About me and my therapy practice
What made you look for a therapist? Perhaps it is an issue that you can describe clearly or perhaps it is more of a feeling of being stuck, where things are not working out how you imagined or in a way you are happy with. Maybe you are still trying to push on but the path in front of you feels increasingly uphill and rocky. We are so used to seeing our lives from our own perspective - a viewpoint that can become narrowed by stresses and anxieties from our present lives and also often those carried from the past - that we feel trapped and unable to see a different way.
Therapy offers a safe place to reassess, regroup and connect with our power to choose.
The therapist you choose needs to be someone you feel comfortable with. Having first qualified over 20 years ago, I have trained in a number of therapeutic schools and I offer an integrative approach to therapy which puts you and your needs at the centre of our work. I will hold a safe, compassionate and non-judgemental space for you and we will explore your issues together. You are the expert on your life and the more you are able to understand about yourself then the better able you will be to choose the way forward that is right for you.
During these times of COVID restrictions I am primarily offering appointments on SKYPE.
However I am able to offer socially distanced face to face appointments in my therapy room which is attached to my home and facing a well-established and peaceful garden. There is ample off-street parking.
My first session
I offer an initial consultation (usually by telephone), free of charge, which usually lasts up to 40 minutes. This is an opportunity for us to explore what is bringing you to therapy and for you to decide whether I might be the kind of person you would be happy to work with. It provides us both with an opportunity to ask questions of each other and to lay out the foundations of our work.
All subsequent sessions will be 60 minutes long.
