About me and my therapy practice

You may be feeling life is just too much to manage, or perhaps something from your past may be impacting on how you are feeling today.

Taking the first step in acknowledging you might benefit from obtaining support from someone outside your family or friends, takes courage. Counselling can be challenging, but rewarding, as we explore together how you are feeling right now and how you would like to feel in the future.

My name is Penny. I'm a warm, interested and accepting psychotherapist. My aim is to create a safe environment where you can come and talk confidentially, without judgement, about whatever is troubling you or causing you distress.

As an integrative therapist, I use different therapeutic approaches, which allow me to tailor my work to you, my client, individually. I believe that the therapeutic relationship that is created between us will allow us to work together, leading you to gain more insight, self-awareness and self-understanding.

I will support you to express difficult feelings and emotions that you may have never felt able to talk about or acknowledge before.

Practice description

I am a fully trained, qualified and experienced psychotherapeutic counsellor.

My counselling training commenced in 2010 with a Certificate in Counselling: humanistic and psychodynamic theory and subsequently I graduated with a First-Class BA (Hons) degree in Integrative-Relational Counselling from Middlesex University.

In addition to my private practice, my experience has included working in an NHS GP practice and workplace counselling service offering therapeutic support to a range of adults and older adults.

Prior to my counselling career, I worked for a number of large FTSE 100 companies with the health and care sector and in 2000 I obtained a BA (Hons) degree in Business Management (2:1) from Leeds Beckett University.

My first session

I offer a warm, open and supportive relationship and will treat you with sensitivity and care, giving you the time and space to explore what is going on for you, to feel heard and understood.

Our first session together will allow us to see how we might work together, to start to build a trusting therapeutic relationship, as a basis for ongoing therapy.

Each session lasts for 50 minutes, and generally we will meet once a week on the same day at the same time, that we will agree between us. The initial consultation costs £50 and thereafter sessions are £60.

Although I am offering face-to-face sessions in my therapy rooms in Guildford and Farnham from August, with the current world-wide pandemic that is impacting on us all, you may feel that you prefer to meet me using video conferencing from your home to ensure your personal safety. We can arrange this between us when you make first make contact with me.
