About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I’m Inge. Looking for a therapist can feel daunting, especially at a time when you are already dealing with difficult circumstances. I’m a person-centred counsellor and EMDR Therapist. I provide a safe, caring and non-judgemental space to think and talk.
I've helped clients reduce anxiety and anger, combat stress & depression, overcome trauma, clarify indecision, increase self-esteem & self-confidence and find a sense of purpose. I will work hard to understand your life from your point of view. I will listen to and accept your feelings, working at your pace and not pressuring you.
Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) is beneficial for people coping with trauma, anxiety and phobias. EMDR utilises the natural eye movements usually experienced during sleep and helps the brain properly process the event and develop coping mechanisms. EMDR enables a traumatic memory to be stored in the past where it belongs.
I have worked in the NHS, with MIND (the mental health charity) and at a local Further Education College, as well as in private practice. I therefore have experience working with varying individual needs, wide ranging age groups (18+ years) and differing social and cultural backgrounds.
