About me and my therapy practice
My experience is derived mainly from NHS GP referrals, and I work with adult clients from diverse backgrounds and ethnicities. They present with a wide range of concerns: chronic pain/illness, general anxiety, relationship problems, low self-esteem, death anxiety, identity crisis, work stress, and more.
Before qualifying as a counsellor, I provided support and advocacy to refugees and asylum-seekers, victims of domestic abuse and single parents for many years. I have always been passionate to support people going through transitions and facilitating therapeutic change. I believe that a greater sense of peace and freedom comes from the continuous, compassionate self-discovery process.
I hold a postgraduate diploma in counselling and psychotherapy and completing a master's degree in the profession at the University of Salford. I am currently a volunteer counsellor at Cruse Bereavement in my spare time.
If you have any questions, feel free to drop me a line.
Counselling is a process to understand yourself better and cultivate self-awareness and acceptance. Talking to a trained professional outside of your social circle can offer you space to reflect and find the right narrative that describes how you feel. It can be an opportunity to reconnect to your authentic self and think about how you want to move forward in life.
My approach is to offer you an empathic space to explore your thoughts and experience and what brings you to counselling. I cherish the process of sharing and reflecting on your thoughts and experiences, helping you to increase your awareness of how you respond to events or unfavourable situations. I want you to feel more empowered to make the changes or decisions you want in life.
Perhaps you are unsure whether your problems are “serious enough” to see a therapist, or you may not know how to describe what you’re going through. Maybe you are feeling lost and disconnected from yourself or your loved ones. Whatever you are going through now, I am willing to empathise, and you are not alone on this journey.
My first session
It can feel daunting to open up to someone.
I offer a free 20 minutes telephone session. It gives you a chance to ask any questions and get a better sense of whether counselling is something for you. The client-counsellor relationship is one of the key elements to a meaningful therapeutic experience. So it is a good idea we get this one right at the start.
