About me and my therapy practice

Thank you for taking a look at my profile.
The thought of having counselling may not feel totally comfortable for you right now . That is completely understandable as you may be feeling quite vulnerable and are experiencing a mixture of emotions.
However, this is a positive step that you are taking. Try not to be afraid, as generally people end up gaining so much from their therapy sessions and the safe, warm, non-judgemental therapeutic relationship.
Unfortunately, sometimes the circumstances that we find ourselves in can leave us feeling lost and helpless and out of control of our lives and emotions.
However, it is my belief that every one of us has the ability to achieve our goals and reach our true potential.
I think if we are totally open and honest, most people find life stressful, overwhelming and difficult to cope with at times. Our friends and family aren't always available or equipped with the skills to support us through such challenging chapters of our lives, and we can feel isolated and scared. This is where the support of a counsellor can be really helpful.
I am an experienced Person-centred counsellor, working within a humanistic and integrative approach.
Having personally endured unanticipated circumstances, recovered from trauma, despair and the manifestations of bereavement and loss, I feel that my personal experiences have equipped me with a genuinely deeper level of understanding, and sense of empathy in relation to the emotions of others.
I have gained a wealth of experience working with a diverse range of issues and am currently working in private practice and on a crisis telephone helpline.
Due to the current restrictions in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic, I am currently seeing clients remotely or talking on the phone. I offer sessions on an open-ended or time-limited basis.
Within the therapeutic relationship I will provide you with a safe, genuine, confidential, empathic and non-judgemental space where we can explore what it is that you are finding difficult, traumatic or overwhelming.
At your pace, we will identify what is causing your pain, anxiety, fear, shame or any other underlying feelings that you are experiencing.
I will support you in overcoming barriers that are hindering you, helping you to find ways to make positive changes and grow and flourish as the unique individual that you are.
My first session
Once you contact me we will then arrange our initial 20 minute session, which is free of charge.
During this time, we will briefly discuss what it is that is causing you difficulties and what you hope to gain from counselling.
We will then talk through what our 'working agreement' would look like, and if you so wish we will book our first meeting together.
