About me and my therapy practice

Hello. My name is Sharon.

I am an experienced Person-centred counsellor, working within a humanistic approach.

I'm described as a natural, caring person and very easy to talk to. I have the ability to connect with people very quickly, to put them at ease and relate to their emotions and feelings in a genuinely empathic way.

I have a wealth of experience working with a diverse range of issues and am currently working in private practice and on a crisis telephone helpline.

My personal experiences.

Having personally experienced trauma, anxiety, hopelessness, despair, and the manifestations of unexpected bereavement and loss, I feel that my personal experiences have equipped me with the deepest level of understanding of human emotions and the ability to help others to overcome adversity.

How my counselling may help you.

I think if we are totally open and honest, most people find life stressful, overwhelming and challenging at times. Our friends and family aren't always available or equipped with the skills to support us through such difficult times, and we can therefore feel isolated and scared. This is where the support of a counsellor maybe really helpful.

It is my belief that given the right conditions, every one of us has the ability to achieve our goals and reach our true potential.

I am extremely passionate about self-growth and helping clients to increase their self-esteem and live fulfilled lives. Engaging in counselling is a truly positive step, and generally people end up gaining so much from their therapy sessions and the compassionate, therapeutic relationship that we build together.

Practice description

Where do we start?

Within our counselling sessions I will provide you with a safe, genuine, confidential, empathic and non-judgemental space where we can explore what it is that you are finding difficult, traumatic or overwhelming.

At your pace, we will identify and unravel what is causing your pain. Maybe you are experiencing anxiety, fear, lack of self-worth, shame, or any other underlying feelings.

Whatever it is, I will support you to overcome the barriers and overwhelming feelings that are hindering you, and help you to strengthen your ability to recover.

I will support you in overcoming barriers that are hindering you, help you to find ways to make positive changes so that you can grow and  flourish as the unique individual that you are.

My first session

When you contact me I will arrange a mutually convenient time for us to chat. During this initial 20 minute session which is free of charge, we will explore what you are struggling with and what you want to achieve from counselling.

We will then talk through what our 'working agreement' would look like, and if you feel you wish to continue we will arrange our first counselling session.

It is then that we begin your journey to healing and recovery.

I am seeing clients remotely, face to face or talking on the phone.  I offer sessions on an open-ended or time-limited basis.
