About me and my therapy practice

I provide a warm and confidential space to support you in finding your own way. Sometimes a chance to voice what's going on for you can offer relief. In a safe space, we can reflect on any issues raised, any difficult feelings, and any unwanted thoughts. We can discover, affirm and celebrate your talents, achievements and strengths, as we travel the road to insight, growth and compassion. The aim is to find meaning and the capacity to live a fuller life.

I don't take the 'blank screen' approach, so I don't stare at you in silence. If I don't share my thoughts with you, the therapy is only taking place in my head. I provide a non-judgemental and loving space, where you're valued for the unique individual you are. This kind of environment can be rare to find, and powerful to experience. Clients have said that they feel cared for and supported by me; they've made important discoveries and gained fresh insights.

I'm a qualified Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist and a Registered Member of the BACP. I follow the BACP Ethical Framework for professional practice. I'm also a member of the Body Psychotherapy Network and an Approved Anxiety UK Therapist (APPTS accreditation).

I'm trained in a range of modalities, including humanistic, psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioural, transpersonal and body-oriented therapy, so I aim to tailor my approach to suit your needs. Working with the body, I use techniques such as mindfulness, sensing, breathing, grounding and visualising. Monitoring our embodied states is particularly important, since emotions are physiological events, created, felt and regulated through the body.

I'm also a supervisor. I provide supervision to trainee and qualified counsellors and therapists. Both psychotherapy and supervision enable people grow and evolve.

Practice description

I'm a highly experienced therapist, having first completed my Post Graduate Diploma in Integrative Counselling, and then my MA/Advanced Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapy at one of the leading Integrative therapy training institutions in the UK and Europe.

I work as a therapist and supervisor in private practice. I've also worked at the East London Mental Health Service (ELMS, previously MIND), an organisation offering short term counselling to the local community, as part of my commitment to inclusion, meaning I work with and welcome clients from diverse backgrounds. I'm committed to developing my personal and professional integration through reflective practice, supervision and Continual Professional Development (CPD).

I've worked at Highbury Counselling Centre, providing long-term therapy to clients, and as a Specialist Mentor at Diversity and Ability (DnA), a social enterprise supporting disabled and neurodiverse adults in Higher Education. I trained in and delivered telephone counselling to young people at Childline. I've also worked with adults with long-term mental health issues, in supported housing or residential care homes, as part of the Forest Community Project team.

My first MA was in English Language and Literature at Oxford University. I've previously worked in the fields of journalism, art and creative writing.

My first session

Here we'd explore, with your permission, what's brought you to therapy, what you hope for, or fear, and address any questions you might have. I'll also have some questions to ask you about your experience and your history, although it's your choice what you choose to share. It's a chance to see if we're suited to work together. There is no obligation attached to this meeting. Please see my website for further details, including on meeting during Covid.

About me and my therapy practice

I'm a supervisor currently completing a UKCP-accredited Diploma in Supervision. I provide low-cost supervision to trainee and qualified counsellors and therapists. On completion of the Diploma, I will be placed on the UKCP Register of Accredited Supervisors.

The Diploma is run by Re-Vision, which is accredited by both the BACP and the UKCP. Its core values are care, integrity and meaning. To bring these values into the relationship between myself and my supervisees is at the heart of my supervision practice, as it is in my work as a highly experienced therapist.

I see supervision as a reflective arena in which to explore the meta-level of client work as well as its minutia, and the interaction connecting these two. It’s a space to express and debrief powerful feelings or events that may belong with the therapist, with the client, or with both. In supervision, a mutual learning relationship can develop, providing a unique opportunity for professional and personal growth. Both psychotherapy and supervision enable people to grow and evolve.

As an Integrative therapist, I'm trained in a range of modalities, so I'm able to supervise a range of orientations. For me, embodied experience is a key resource, as access to feeling and transformation come through the body, and not outside or above it. This resource finds its expression relationally and creatively through breath, sound, words, images, art, archetype and intuition. I hope to offer supervision that honours the life of the soul.

An initial phone call may be helpful in the first instance. No obligation is attached to a call or a meeting. It's a chance to see if we're suited to work together.
