About me and my therapy practice

You may be considering counselling or therapy, either for the first time, or to continue the lifelong journey of self-exploration and development. You may be in crisis, or suffering long-term distress. You may feel stuck in some areas, or have painful feelings related to difficult experiences in the past. Perhaps you hope to make changes in your life, to feel more fulfilled and balanced, with a richer and more rewarding relationship with yourself and the people around you. Therapy can help with this, as we work together to make sense of your experience, and get to know the real you. An exploratory meeting to discuss your needs may help you decide.

Practice description

I provide a safe, warm and confidential space to support you in finding your own way. Sometimes a chance to voice what's going on for you can offer relief. In the space we create together, we can reflect on and explore any issues you might have, any difficult feelings, or any unwanted thoughts. We can also affirm and celebrate your resources, talents and achievements, as we travel the road to insight, compassion, growth and change. The aim is to find meaning and the capacity to live a fuller life.

I'm trained in a range of modalities, so I tailor my approach to suit your needs. I'm informed by humanistic, psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioural, transpersonal, existential, developmental and body-oriented theories. Monitoring our embodied states is particularly important, since emotions are physiological events, created, felt and regulated through the body.

I'm a relational therapist, which means an exploration of our relationship will likely be part of our work. How you and I relate may mirror how you relate to other people in your life. This can be a significant area of enquiry. Relational work also means that I see us as two human beings in the room, not as one expert and one 'patient.' I intend to be honest, open and curious when I reflect with you. If I get it wrong, I intend to be honest about that too, and see how we can learn and grow from it, as often this situation presents an opportunity for more intimacy between us. As a wise friend once said to me, I've learnt so much from my mistakes that I plan on making some more!

My first session

I offer a free 15-minute telephone/Zoom consultation, and an initial meeting at a one-off reduced fee of £50 for individuals and £60 for couples. Should we decide to continue, sessions are £80 for individuals, £100 for couples.

Here we’d explore, with your permission, what’s brought you to therapy, what you hope for and fear, and address any questions you may have for me about the therapy I provide. There’s no obligation attached to a call or a meeting. Either is a chance to see if we’re suited to work together.

About me and my therapy practice

I hold a UKCP-accredited Supervision Diploma. I'm on on the UKCP Register of Accredited Supervisors.I 'm an experienced individual and group supervisor. I provide supervision to trainee and qualified counsellors and therapists.

The Diploma is from by Re-Vision, which is accredited by both the BACP and the UKCP. Its core values are care, integrity and meaning. To bring these values into the relationship between myself and my supervisees is at the heart of my supervision practice, as it is in my work as a highly experienced therapist.

I see supervision as a reflective arena in which to explore the meta-level of client work as well as its minutia, and the interaction connecting these two. It’s a space to express and debrief powerful feelings or events that may belong with the therapist, with the client, or with both. In supervision, a mutual learning relationship can develop, providing a unique opportunity for professional and personal growth. Both psychotherapy and supervision enable people to grow and evolve.

As an Integrative therapist, I'm trained in a range of modalities, so I'm able to supervise a range of orientations. For me, embodied experience is a key resource, as access to feeling and transformation come through the body, and not outside or above it. This resource finds its expression relationally and creatively through breath, sound, words, images, art, archetype and intuition. I hope to offer individual and group supervision that honours the life of the soul.

An exploratory phone call may be helpful in the first instance. No obligation is attached to a call or a meeting. It's a chance to see if we're suited to work together.
