About me and my therapy practicePeople choose to look for therapy for many different reasons; you may be trying to cope with a past or ongoing difficult event, or have a general sense of dissatisfaction in your life without really being able to put your finger on why. Whatever you’re going through, asking for help is rarely easy, and takes courage and strength. It is my intention to support and respect you whilst exploring your current challenges, empowering you to make positive changes in your life.
I practise integrative therapy, which means I combine different counselling methods to find the right therapy for each person. One powerful technique I offer is Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), which is effective in removing the emotional intensity that can so often be held from past distressing or traumatic experiences, addressing addictive behaviours and phobias, and working with depression and anxiety, amongst other things.
I mainly work with clients face-to-face, but also have several years of experience of offering counselling sessions online.
I currently work as Head of Counselling in a community counselling service, alongside my private practice.
I work from a quiet, private and comfortable room in central Reading, a few minutes' walk from the train station and with parking available nearby.
My first session
The initial consultation session is a two-way process - it's as much for me to find out about what may be bringing you to counselling at this time, as it is for you to find out whether you think I might be the right person to support you.
