About me and my therapy practice
I am a qualified Therapist/Counsellor (terminology is interchangeable), who is specialised in therapeutic delivery for children, young people and families, having completed a counselling Masters at the University of Northampton. I have many years experience supporting the behavioural, social, emotional and mental health difficulties of individuals from both a counselling and mentoring perspective.
I pride myself on my ability to build a warm and comfortable relationship with my clients and see this as central to my counselling success.
I am a Registered member (MBACP) of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and adhere to their ethical guidelines and code of conduct. This includes attending regular supervision and engaging in continued professional development. I also hold a clean DBS.
I am currently offering webcam/telephone therapy only. For this reason, I am not promoting my children's service. However, if you would like to discuss the possibility for sessions for a child of 13years or younger, do contact me and we can discuss the suitability for this.
I consider myself an Integrative Therapist meaning that I draw on the therapeutic theories and approaches that I feel would be most beneficial for my client’s needs. This may include a combination of approaches, such as: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Person-centred/humanistic approaches, Creative & Play therapies or Systemic Family therapy.
I view my position as a facilitator of therapeutic exploration who offers a confidential and non-judgemental space where you can learn and reflect on thoughts, feelings, relationships and experiences. I will encourage self-reflection to help you achieve a greater understanding of these, in order to reframe the damaging narratives.
I am also skilled in the use of creative and/or play methods which enable emotional expression.
Please email me with any questions you may have with regards to counselling or my therapeutic delivery. If you provide me with a contact number, I will give you a call.
My first session
Initial contact- no charge
Following receipt of your email of interest, I will contact you via email/phone call (following your preference). This is to provide a basic overview of therapy, and answer any questions you may have about me/my practice.
First session- Base Assessment- £40
The initial session is a 50-minute introduction to the therapeutic boundaries and structure of the therapy, including an explanation of confidentiality. The counselling contract will be agreed and signed, and any outstanding questions will be answered. Additionally, a base assessment of your reasons for accessing counselling and the beginning of therapeutic goals will be discussed.
You are not required to continue with the sessions if you decide that it is not suitable for you.
On-going therapy thereafter
Following the first session, 50-minute sessions continue on the agreed time scale (most typically weekly appointments) where you will begin to explore your thoughts, feelings, experiences and behaviours that may be influencing everyday life.
All communications are confidential to allow free expression without judgement, to enable the therapeutic journey to take place.
