About me and my therapy practice
Therapy should be as normal as a trip to the doctors or dentist. Our physical health is important to us, if we are in pain we seek help – but what about our mental health? There are many reasons life can cause mental pain and anguish too - anxiety and depression, relationships, work stress and bereavement, for example, can all impact our mental health. It is very easy to suffer in silence but this doesn't have to be the case. Therapy isn’t just for the severely distressed, it can be a powerful vehicle for change in many ways. Therapy is for everyone, from all walks of life; you may just feel you need solutions for a problem that you’re unable to resolve alone, or you may want to make sense of much deeper-rooted problems that require time and sensitivity. My training in several different therapies means I can offer both approaches plus many more. As we are all different, the therapy you receive should reflect this.
I value collaborative relationships in my work and aim to empower my clients with the tools needed to foster change. I want to help you take from this experience a sense of empowerment, a renewed outlook, an increase in self-awareness, and a toolkit of coping strategies to help deal with life's encounters outside of the therapy room.
As an approved therapist for Anxiety UK within the East London area, I help clients to understand their anxiety which can develop in many ways, helping develop better coping strategies. I have completed bereavement training with the NHS and volunteered at a palliative care unit helping to support those overwhelmed by their grief. Additionally I have worked within the North East London Mental Health Trust with those with schizophrenia and their families. Working within private practice, the NHS, mental health settings and the business world, I am able to draw on many frameworks when helping my clients find ways to change.
