About me and my therapy practice
I have been offering therapeutic counselling to clients since 2012. Initially working with new parents and helping them build confidence to build a loving relationship with their children. In 2018, I expanded my practice to support clients suffering with addiction, adoption, anxiety, depression, bereavement and relationship challenges. My broad experience supporting parents has created a unique approach to counselling because I have a deep understanding of attachment theory and how this impacts people with their day to day lives. Gaining insight into how patterns of behaviour are learnt can release you from past unconscious experiences and habits. New coping skills can then be learnt to enhance enjoyment in everyday life and to value your individuality.
Practice description
Counselling offers a confidential place for clients to talk freely about their difficulties. There is no other space where the voices of our past can be heard without judgement and you can learn how to quiet the internal dialogue and find a way back to your authentic self. I work with a number of neuro diverse clients, some diagnosed with ADD and ADHD, some with the self belief that they are neuro diverse and find peace from being able to work with me and together we find the right words for their emotions.
Receiving long term support from someone who listens to your turmoil and fears enables you to discover ways to enrich your life and regain some control. The death of a close member of your family or friend, even if estranged can trigger challenging thoughts, deep sadness and create physical symptoms.
Together we will identify the roots of anxiety, depression and relationship challenges and work on creating new coping skills to navigate daily life. Identifying new ways to cope enables people to walk away from the bad objects we often collect to ease the pain. These objects can be alcohol, drugs and negative relationships.
My first session
The first session is a time to get to know each other and decide if we can work together. The therapeutic relationship is built on trust, hopefully this is felt during the first session, but sometimes takes a few sessions. There are certain safety questions I will ask and gather your GP and contact details, but there is always time to talk through the reasons you feel you need help at this point in time and gain clarity on how my approach to talking treatment can support you.
I offer sessions via zoom and in person in Beckenham BR3 (Tues-Thurs)
