About me and my therapy practice

I practice person-centred therapy. It is a non-directive approach which means that I will not advise you what to do, nor give you any homework. Through openness and providing a warm welcome, I aim to provide an environment in which you can come to feel safe, so you can share what is troubling you, free from fear of judgement or control.

The idea is that the relationship provides the right environment for the therapeutic work to take place. That through feeling understood by an independent other, you can travel the path to better understanding of yourself and your feelings.

You would remain in control of what is shared and discussed. Whatever you choose to share, I can help you with exploring and understanding your thoughts, feelings, and behaviour, so you can better understand why you feel the way you do. I can help you explore other ways of approaching your difficult situation, to reveal a new way of coping that eases your burden. This would be emotional work that we would do together.

Practice description

I practice part-time, face to face, one to one therapy, from dedicated therapy rooms in the Carrington/Sherwood area of Nottingham, just north of the city centre.

Parking is available if you drive. The location is on a bus route with a frequent service from Nottingham city centre.

The ground floor rooms are accessible for wheelchair users and people with mobility issues. I sometimes also work from the first floor. Please contact me to share your accessibility requirements.

The rooms I work from are well ventilated between clients, with the seats and door handles hygienically wiped between each use. The seats are positioned socially distanced apart. I invite the use of hand gel, and face coverings in the hallway and communal areas, which can then be removed in the therapy room. I have been double vaccinated and I conduct lateral flow tests twice weekly. If you are vulnerable due to health considerations or concerned about working face to face, please contact me to discuss other options that may be available.

My first session

The first session is free, with no obligation to continue. This is to see whether you feel comfortable and whether we would like to work together. Thereafter, I charge £40 for a session of 50 minutes. Longer sessions of 90 minutes cost £60, when available. The sessions are usually weekly, and can be booked as we go, for as long or as little as you wish.
