About me and my therapy practice

Hi my name is Louise, most people call me Lou.  If you're reading my profile......the first step is always the hardest.  It takes so much courage to reach out.

My practice, my ethos is for you to feel heard and to be seen, sounds simple right.  That isn't always the case for many of my clients.

I work as an Integrative Counsellor and what that basically means is using different modalities depending on what you bring.  One size really doesn't fit all.

A bit about my background I have previously worked both in prisons and the community, helping women with Child loss, termination, miscarriage, and stillborn babies as a Counsellor.

I currently work for a Charity called Family Matters where I work as a Trauma Therapist, supporting both women and men who have experienced sexual abuse/rape.

Trauma really is my passion.  Types of trauma can look like: serious accidents, robbery, rape, neglect, bullying, combat, war, racism and so, so much more.

Unhealed trauma can look like: low self-worth, not being able to tolerate conflict, fear of abandonment, feelings of shame and putting aside your needs for other.   This is really just the tip of the iceberg.

Practice description

I am an Integrative counsellor and Therapist working with both short or long term therapeutic models based on the clients needs, drawing on differing modalities such as Person Centred, Psychodynamic, Cognitive and CBT tailoring each session to your individual needs.

My work is focused around strict confidentiality and having a non-judgemental space to assist you in exploring your own development with a guidance into understanding a deeper personal insight into your presented problem/s.

I currently run a small private practice, currently I only have availability for online clients, and will be offering face to face sessions again in October.

My first session

I offer an initial free no obligation phone consultation of 20 minutes to discuss the nature of your needs, to see what you are seeking from counselling and to understand how best I can support you on your counselling journey. This is also the opportunity for you to get to ask questions, get to understand how I work and how we would work together.

We would also discuss the next steps in counselling/therapy and what that would look like, including day and time of sessions should you decide to take up counselling/therapy offer.
