About me and my therapy practice
I am a qualified counsellor and psychotherapist who offers private therapy sessions for adults on a long, medium or short-term basis, in English or Polish.
My style is warm, engaging and approachable - I believe that the trust and safety which are fundamental to the therapeutic process are built through genuine, honest and non-judgmental interactions. I will encourage and support you in a kind and gentle manner yet can also be direct when necessary, moving at the pace which works best for you
Together we will create a safe and comfortable space to explore the issues you are facing. We will work towards the changes you want in your life so that you can move forward with a renewed hope.
I will support you on a journey of growth by exploring what is causing you pain, suffering or unhappiness, and together we will seek the meanings of this from the present to the past. We will explore the possibilities for moving forward through this difficulty, helping you gain new meaning, a greater sense of fulfilment and closer relationships.
Some common issues I can help you with are: relationship and family problems; anxiety and panic attacks; depression, loneliness and sadness; grief and bereavement; low self-esteem and low self-confidence; stress and work-related issues; lack of meaning in life; trauma, abuse and childhood attachment; turning points in life - loss, illness, redundancy.
Everyone is unique. There is no one-size-fits all therapy and duration will depend on the issue you bring and what you wish to get out of therapy. The usual practice is to make a commitment of 6 or 12 sessions, and then review our work together. This may be a sufficient number of sessions or you may then decide to continue on an open-ended basis.
The initial session is £50. Subsequent sessions £60.
All sessions are currently online (via Zoom or Skype) due to the pandemic.
My first session
After our initial contact, we will arrange a session, either in person or on-line as soon as possible.
Our first session is about getting to know each other. It will be a space for you to ask questions you may have about me or the therapy process. We will explore what brings you to the counselling, your family history and your goals and desires for our work. This includes creating a working agreement with you, to clarify fees, times of sessions and confidentiality.
The first session is an opportunity for you to decide if you are comfortable working with me and for me to find out if I am the appropriate therapist for you.
