About me and my therapy practice

Identity | Life transitions | Loss | Gender | Sexuality. I am a caring and compassionate counsellor, offering you a safe therapeutic space to explore whatever is on your mind.

My approach is to attempt to understand the world from your perspective, then use this awareness to draw upon a range of psychological approaches to help you achieve your desired outcome.

By taking an integrative approach to counselling, I draw upon my range of professional training and academic qualifications to support you. This may include looking at how past - perhaps unconscious or forgotten - events have shaped the way you feel today. Or it may involve looking deeply into how you view the world, and beginning to make sense of that together. It could include exercises, such as mindfulness or CBT, to challenge existing patterns of thought and behaviour. Most likely, it will involve a mixture of these, and I will be sure to check throughout our work together that my approaches and suggestions are working for you.

I also draw upon theories of gender and identity, and how your sense of self meets at the intersection of race, class, gender, disability, sexual orientation and culture.

I am an LGBTQ+ affirmative therapist, including being sex affirmative, chemsex aware and sex worker aware.

Common themes and issues I work with include:

• Finding a way to deal with depressive, anxious or angry thoughts and feelings (depression, anxiety counselling, trauma, shame, guilt, anger management)

• Coping with a significant life event like the end of a relationship or the loss of someone or something important (grief counselling, bereavement counselling, break-ups, change in life)

• Questions about identity, sexuality, gender, self-esteem, and acceptance (LGBTQ+, coming out, queer relationships, confidence)

Practice description

We'll meet online, so you’ll need a reliable internet connection, and a space where you can have your session without being disturbed, overlooked or overheard.

You’ll get to talk about what matters to you from a comfortable and familiar environment, whilst I attend to everything you say. I'll draw upon my practical and theoretical knowledge to help bring about greater self-awareness for you.

What are your qualifications?

I have a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a master’s degree in Gender Studies, along with a diploma in Counselling. I also hold qualifications in online therapy and bereavement, and attend courses and workshops on an ongoing basis.

How many sessions should I have?

As many as you feel you require. Some clients have positive outcomes after one session, whilst others like to have a much longer time to develop a relationship and deeply explore their lives. I work in an open-ended fashion, so we will end the therapy when your aims for coming to therapy have been met or at any point you choose to end.

How much does a session cost?

£65 for a 50-minute session. Please ask for concessionary rate availability.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule?

You will not have to pay for the session if you cancel or reschedule more than 72 hours before its scheduled start time.

Which payment methods do you accept?

Bank transfer, paid in advance of the session.

My first session

Your first session will be an opportunity to talk about what brings you to therapy and to gain an understanding of what, if any, goals you have. Together, we will attempt to understand what a positive counselling outcome looks like. I will be curious about you and may ask questions about your family, friends, interests, work, home, and relationships.

You will be able to ask questions about the process, and will be encouraged to do so throughout our time working together. Before your first session, you will be invited to complete a short survey about your preferences within therapy – such as whether you want us to focus on the past, the future, or have no specific preference. Even if you have had therapy before, this can be a helpful way of exploring your expectations.

In advance of your session, you’ll receive  a link to your private online room. Please test that this link and your equipment work in advance of our session.
