About me and my therapy practice
I’ve been helping people to change for the past 30 years. I help them overcome limiting beliefs and behaviours, rewrite their stories, and live life more fully and with less fear. If you’re ready to start making changes, I’d love to see how I can help.
Sometimes we treat ourselves badly. We’re a best friend to everyone but ourselves. We repeat patterns of behaviour that cause us pain. It feels irrational, but we keep doing it, with the same predictable results.
Often our unhappiness comes from the stories that we tell ourselves, such as:
‘I’m not good enough’
‘I’m not … smart / funny / interesting / attractive / interesting … enough’
‘If only I could be more …’
‘If only I were more like …’
‘I need to … word harder … please everyone … be perfect … be helpful … be quiet … not attract attention …’
We all have our stories. They can make us feel anxious, sad, fearful, depressed. Maybe once, they helped us make sense of the world and feel safe. Now, they just limit us and make us unhappy.
There’s nothing irrational about this. Neither is there anything wrong with you. But probably, at a time when you had no power, something happened to you to make you feel that way. So, I’ve learned to ask not what’s wrong with you, but what happened to you, and what do you want now?
I work as an integrative therapist. That means that for me, there’s no ‘one size fits all’ therapy. Whatever I have, and have learned over the years, I bring to my work. Just as you are unique, so is the way we will work together. The question is not “does this type of therapy work?” but “is this approach working for you right now?”
I usually work face to face, by phone and online. In the interests of your and my safety, however, I’m not seeing clients face to face during the period of the pandemic.
I also offer coaching and self-development. What you want may be very specific: to feel more confident; be more assertive; build better relationships: use your skills and time better; get more focus.
Or it may be bigger. You may have the sense that that life isn’t all it could be, that ‘there must be more to life than this.’ That maybe, in a parallel dimension, you’re living the life you really want in this one, if only you knew how to bring it about.

My first session
I make no assumptions that I can help you or that you’ll want to work with me. In the first session we talk about what’s brought you in touch at this point, and what you’re looking for. I want to know that I can help you, so it’s important that we share an understanding of what you want to achieve, how we might approach helping you get there and how long it might take.
If you feel confident in working with me on that basis, we should have a good foundation for our work together. We may adjust our focus or direction of travel depending on what’s working and what is not, but we will always have a sense of where it is you want to get to.
If we start with the right focus you should start to see changes sooner than you may imagine: most people experience benefits early in therapy, and most clients I work with have on average 10 – 12 sessions.
