About me and my therapy practice

As a therapist, my approach is one of collaboration to guide you through a journey of self-discovery, growth, and personal change by delving into the intricate dynamics that shape your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors.

Psychodynamic psychotherapy focuses on the exploration of unconscious processes to unveil the roots of psychological challenges. We can work together to explore links between your past experiences and present ways of relating to yourself and the world around you. Together, we will embark on a collaborative process aimed at enhancing your self-awareness, fostering personal insights, and empowering you to navigate life's complexities toward a more positive future.

The benefits of psychodynamic psychotherapy are profound. By unraveling unconscious patterns, we can unlock a deeper understanding of your experiences, leading to lasting positive change. This therapeutic approach equips you with valuable coping mechanisms, enriches your interpersonal relationships, and facilitates personal growth.

Practice description

Engaging in therapy with me invites a distinctive exploration into the depths of psychodynamic psychotherapy, where the understanding of unconscious processes forms the core of our collaborative journey.

The therapeutic relationship gives rise to subtle nuances that unfold between us which provide insight, in the here and now, revealing unconscious relationship patterns that have evolved since childhood. In this way, the dynamics within the therapy space serve as a mirror, reflecting and addressing crucial processes that impact your present life.

Utilizing memories of early relationships, we collaboratively make sense of current challenges. Additionally, dreams are embraced as gateways to a deeper understanding of unconscious fears and motivations. Throughout this process, the aim is to heighten your awareness of the influence your unconscious wields over your feelings and behaviors, empowering you to exert greater control over your actions and responses.

Contemporary psychodynamic work underscores a therapeutic relationship grounded in acceptance, empathy, and understanding, with a focus on cultivating a strong working alliance built on trust. Acknowledging real-world influences on your life, such as trauma, cultural differences, sexual orientation, or social context, is essential for fostering profound self-reflection.

My first session

I offer a complimentary 15 minute telephone call, where I can begin to understand your hopes for therapy and you can find out more about the process.

The next step is an exploratory 1.5 hour face-to-face session. In this session, we will think together about your background and you can tell me more about your difficulties and how psychotherapy could help. It is also an opportunity for us to get a feel for each other and whether we are a good fit.

Following this, if you decide to take up therapy, regular sessions will be weekly and last 50 minutes.
