About me and my therapy practice
I am a qualified Psychotherapeutic Counsellor with a Masters in Clinical Psychology based in South Manchester, and a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy. I have worked in healthcare for over 20 years across a number of different specialities including substance misuse, trauma, forensics, neurodiversity, OCD, bereavement, anxiety and depression. I am also a qualified Chinese Medicine Acupuncturist (BAcC registered) and Yoga therapist which I am able to incorporate into sessions if this would be beneficial to you.
I offer a non-judgemental space for you to express and explore your feelings and emotions in a constructive way that will, in time, enable their resolution. As a (primarily) person-centred practitioner our sessions will be led by you. I will support you in your inherent ability to know your own intentions and have them honoured; allowing you to know yourself more and increase awareness. I am using an integrative approach, which means that I tailor my skills and techniques depending on what you want to get from therapy and what I think would benefit you more in the long run. I can use mindfulness-based techniques, CBT, ACT and emotion-focused skills to help you “unhook” yourself from thought patterns/behaviours that are detracting you from leading your fullest life. I'm passionate about helping you find improvement and satisfaction in the here and now, and real future direction.
My first session
Sessions are based at Precious Health in Hale on a Monday or Wednesday and are 50 minutes.
Our first session will begin with a discussion on what has brought you to counselling, what has been helpful for you in the past, and what you would like to achieve in the sessions.
We will complete the contracting process in accordance with Ethical Guidelines where a clearer plan of what you can expect will be detailed and tailored to your needs.
