About me and my therapy practice
Hello, my name is Colin and I am a Person-Centred Counsellor and Psychotherapist.
I am a passionate about helping you to improve your mental health and can offer a safe and confidential space for our sessions together.
As a Person-Centred Counsellor I believe that I am in a privileged position to support you to achieve positive change in your life and help you see how important you truly are.
In addition to my professional counselling qualifications I also bring many years of life experience to my practice (working in industry) which I feel compliment my position as a Counsellor.
Before becoming a Counsellor I spent many years as a volunteer with The Samaritans Organisation in Glasgow
This gave me some of the most rewarding years of my life and an insight and appreciation of how important the act of listening can be to someone in despair.
Our mental health can be impacted by many things and counselling is often be sought when we are at our lowest ebb, and it takes courage to admit that you are struggling to cope.
A relationship based on trust is vital between counsellor and client, and together we can explore your feelings in an environment that is both safe and confidential.
As your counsellor I will support you and help you move towards positive change in your life.
My counselling practice is based in East Kilbride where I work with adults and children from 11 years old upwards.
I also work as a school counsellor at one of the largest comprehensive schools in the West of Scotland, where I support pupils aged 11 – 17 with a wide-range of mental health issues.
The main focus of my private counselling practice is supporting clients (adults and teenagers) with anxiety, grief and loss, depression, anger, relationship(s), domestic and sexual abuse, suicidal ideation, low self-esteem, low self-worth and school related issues.
My first session
Our sessions together can be face-to-face at my room in East Kilbride with cleaning and social distance measure in place, and I have also received two vaccinations for COVID-19.
In addition I also offer counselling by telephone and online (Zoom or Skype) and can at times incorporate Mindfulness techniques into my practice when I feel they can be beneficial.
Prior to any counselling being agreed I offer a free 30 minute telephone chat to discuss how I can support you and answer any counselling-related questions you may have.
