About me and my therapy practice
Thank you for visiting my profile page.
Our mental and emotional health can be impacted by many things and counselling is often be sought when we are at our lowest ebb, and it takes courage to admit that you are struggling to cope.
As a Person-Centred Counsellor I believe that I am in a privileged position to support you to achieve positive change in your life, and offer a safe and confidential space for our sessions together.
In addition to my private practice I also work in Education as a School Counsellor at one of the largest schools in the West of Scotland.
In my private counselling practice I work with both adults and young people (aged 11 - 18) who attend counselling with concerns that may include anxiety, grief and loss, depression, anger, relationship(s), abuse, low self-esteem and school-related issues.
My Counselling philosophy is based on kindness, trust, confidentiality and unconditional acceptance of the clients who attend my practice, and my aim is to build a trusting relationship that can lead to positive change.
In addition to my professional counselling qualifications I also bring many years of life experience to my practice (including my many years working in industry and also as a Samaritans Volunteer) which I feel compliment my position as a Counsellor.
Practice description
Working as a Person-Centred Counsellor I believe that potential clients will find me to kind, genuine and honest, always putting you first and having your best interests at heart.
At the start of Counselling we will discuss your concerns and also what goals you may have and what you would like to get out of Counselling.
As stated in the previous section I also have many years experience as a School Counsellor at a large comprehensive School where I work with young people between the ages of 11 - 17.
It is my experience that it can sometimes be difficult for school pupils to gain quick access to school counselling services or a CAHMS referral, so if you have any concerns and would like to talk about counselling for your own child then please get in touch.
My counselling practice is based in The Old Village Area of East Kilbride where I am available for both face to face and online Counselling.
There is an area for parking close to my counselling room which is also a short walk from East Kilbride Railway Station, which has a half-hourly service to Glasgow, and the East Kilbride Bus Station is a 10 minute walk away.
My first session
Prior to our first session being agreed I offer a free 30 minute (face-to-face/or phone) pre-counselling chat to discuss how I can support you and answer any counselling-related questions you may have.
This discussion can also help you decide if I will be the right counsellor for you, as a good realtionship between us can help ensure counselling will be a success.
