About me and my therapy practice
I am a person, like you, navigating my way through the trials and tribulations that accompany the human experience. Life involves periods of pain, joy, sadness, happiness, anxiety, peace, struggle and ease. Such emotions and ways of being are common states of humanness. I have dedicated my life to supporting others in times of need in various ways, ranging from teaching, lecturing, coaching, counselling, working with victims of crime and those affected by issues such as homelessness, ill health and dis-ease. I thoroughly enjoy working with a diverse range of individuals and am wholeheartedly committed to establishing comfort and connection with those with whom I work.
Practice description
As a person-centred therapist, my primary focus is to provide a natural, nurturing, safe space where you feel comfortable and at ease. Informal, yet professional, the space is there for you to relax, unwind and take things at your own pace. Our working relationship is one in which I respect you as a human in the world; your autonomy, your experiencing, your approach; your essence.
Never ‘leading’ or ‘telling you what to do’, my way of working involves me walking alongside you, acutely and attentively endeavouring to understand your world and support you in navigating through it. A non-judgemental place, where anything at all can be discussed; a space where everything is welcome.
My first session
With a free initial 20-minute telephone conversation, we can work together to decide whether we ‘fit’ and if it feels right for you to have me supporting you along your journey. The next step would involve us co-creating a ‘shared agreement’ for our work together, setting out a standard of practice, in accordance with the BACP ethical framework. Sessions are typically one hour, open ended, with no minimum/maximum number available (that is for us to decide together).
