About me and my therapy practice

Are you struggling to make sense of things? Feeling overwhelmed?  Getting inpatient or irritable? Not enjoying things as much as you used to?... If so counselling can help you to make sense of this and help with coping strategies.Counselling can be a big step to make. I am led by you, the client, on what is needed in therapy. I work with individuals, couples or children / young people.

I am a fully insured BACP Accredited Counsellor and an Accredited IPT (Interpersonal Therapy) Practioner. My qualifications include an Advanced Diploma in Counselling; Certificate in Youth Counselling and BACP Modality, Counselling for Depression.  I hold an Enchanced DBS certificate and am registered with ICO (Information Commisioners Office / Data Protection).  I have completed (and continue to attend) various training events which have enhanced, expanded my knowledge and continued my Professional Development and experience (see my website for full details).

For sixteen years I worked within the voluntary sector counselling people who were victims of crime from burglary to sexual assault/rape, childhood sexual abuse or people who had lost family / friends through murder or manslaughter.

If you have any query please do not hesitate to email or call me for a free no obligation chat. I look forward to hearing from you.

Practice description

In addition to my private practice, I have worked with patients who were referred by their GP under the NHS IAPT Service (Improved Access to Psychological Therapies). Here I saw people with an array of issues including depression, anxiety, bereavements, work stresses and helped with accepting and managing long term conditions/ illnesses.

I also support children from the ages of 5-18 and worked as a school counsellor. For children and young people I offer a mixture of play, art and talking therapy.

No issue is too big or too small. I can offer long or short term counselling whatever suits you.

My first session

Our first session will be very informal, we can use this session to explore and discuss your concerns and what your best hopes from counselling will be. Do not worry if you do not know what your best hopes are, many people do not know the answer to this question either, it is something we can find the answer/s together.

I will be lead by you regarding whether you would like to book further sessions and what the frequency will be, be it weekly, fortnightly or monthly. You choose. After all counselling is about empowering you to regain confidence, acceptance, control in your decisions and believe that you are good enough.
