About me and my therapy practice

There are times when we all need a safe place to ‘land’ and pause; to find some space that helps us to then move forward. ‘Landings’ is a safe place to engage in a talking therapy.

My commitment and passion to the therapy encounter emerges from years of experience working in business, educational settings and pastoral community work; undoubtedly influencing my relational approach. Agreeing wholeheartedly with the quote, 'therapy is the art of encounter'.

I am qualified to post degree level as a Counsellor, Psychotherapist and Clinical Supervisor. Holding many years of experience working as a University Counsellor and in private practice, I am skilled to work with all areas of emotional and psychological distress in a person-centred way; with a special interest in the psyche and soul dimensions of our being. I help to unravel the issues that block the way to reaching your own personal goals and potential; or work with you to find new meanings in the face of loss, suffering or adversity.

About me and my therapy practice

Qualified to post degree level, I am a skilled Counsellor, Psychotherapist and Supervisor offering supervision to both trainee and qualified counsellors. I have many years’ experience of working both in a small busy private practice and in a university setting.  Skills that have been enhanced through working in group supervision, teaching person-centred theory and facilitating personal development groups for students at degree level.

In my practice as supervisor I am passionate and committed to providing a safe ‘brave’ space where together we can experience a quality of looking to see things how they really are. Primarily to enhance the work with your client, but also with consideration to your needs in our supervisory relationship. My aim is for a collaborative ethically-minded reflection on the therapeutic practice attending to both psyche and soul; being open to the deeper relational connections we encounter in our work as counsellors and therapists.

Practice description

The theoretical framework that underpins my practice of supervising counsellors and psychotherapists integrates insights from several person-centred supervisory practitioners, Hawkins & Shohet, Page & Wosket, Shohet and Van Duerzen.

Shohet (2008:188) describes passionate supervision as “a space to bring fear into consciousness and dissolve it so we can bring healing for supervisor, supervisee and client”.

My hope and aim will be to provide a kind, tentative exploration that supports, contains and affirms. One that at all times respects and honours yours, the supervisees’ wellbeing, growth and professional development.

My first session

"We first need to get to know each other"  (Lahad, 2000:17).

Knowing how hard it can be to find the right ‘fit’ in supervision, I am happy for us to have an introductory video or telephone chat to test the water!  So, please email to arrange, or for any further information.

I am currently working from a quiet and safe office offering face to face supervision in the Leyland, Preston area; a space that is also fully equipped to work on-line both locally and nationally using video calls or by telephone.
