About me and my therapy practice

My name is Seb and I am a BACP accredited Person Centred Counsellor, offering one-to-one counselling for adults of all ages in Cardiff.

I understand that finding someone to talk to in difficult times can be a scary thing to do, and recognise the courage it takes to ask for help. Your privacy is of prime importance to me, and whatever you need to talk about will remain confidential between us.

I offer a free, no obligation 30 minute phone call in order for you to see whether I feel like a good fit in terms of your needs from counselling. My experience is that a solid foundation for successful therapy comes from a good matching between a therapist's way of being and your current needs. If I am not the right person for you, I will help signpost you towards another type of therapy that might be a better match for you.

Prior to counselling in private practice, my experience includes:
- 11 years Counselling within the NHS, meeting people referred by their doctors and other health professionals
- 7 years supporting people in Inpatient NHS Mental Health settings,
- 3 years supporting students in university counselling services.

My fee is £52 per 60 minute session, and I work from private counselling rooms on Whitchurch Road (CF14) in Cardiff. The therapy rooms are situated on the first floor via a flight of stairs so are unfortunately unsuitable for people with mobility difficulties. As an alternative to this, I offer telephone counselling for people who prefer to meet in this way.

Practice description

We will work at your pace and focus on what is important to you, offering my genuine, unconditional acceptance and understanding of you from your perspective so you feel heard, understood and valued as a person. I am happy to meet you for as long or short a time as you need, and will help support you processing whatever life events or experiences you need to talk about, from the past or in the present. This can offer relief in having shared your experiences in a respectful, understanding, safe space.

If you would like to have a chat on the phone, please feel free to contact me via my e-mail (, leaving your name, phone number and when you are free to speak, and I will aim to contact you back within 24 hours.

My Qualifications

- BA (Hons.) 2:1 / Diploma in Person Centred Counselling from Metanoia Institute, Ealing, London.

- Accreditation with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I work according to the BACP ethical framework to ensure I am practising safely, and appreciate regular Supervision as an opportunity to maintain my awareness about the way I work, my quality of work with clients, and ensuring I am taking care of myself.

- Counselling for Depression (CfD) from Metanoia Institute, a qualification endorsed by NICE (The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence) who authorise treatments in the NHS only when they have been proven clinically effective.
