At the moment, I offer virtual counselling via Skype, WhatsApp and by phone at times to suit us both. This works well for the majority of my clients.
For those clients who wish to have face to face sessions, I hope to move back to these sessions very soon.
About me and my therapy practice
My name is Tina Turpin and I’m a counsellor and psychotherapist and have worked with hundreds of clients.
I am a BACP-certified counsellor, who takes an empathetic, integrative approach to helping my clients reach their potential as people.
Every one of us is different, and as such I tailor my approach to each individual client’s needs and focus closely on the client-therapist relationship. For me, respect, trust and empowerment are fundamental to this relationship.
Often talking to a neutral non-judgemental person, such as me, can really help. Together we can work on what troubles you - maybe you have been feeling low for too long and want to change; perhaps you need some help with your anger or to stop feeling so anxious. Maybe you are grieving and need some help. I focus very much on the relationship between client and therapist - a working relationship that is built on respect, trust and empowerment.
Counselling gives you an opportunity to look at your life, to explore your thoughts and feelings in a non-judgemental and safe working environment. It can enable you to better understand yourself, perhaps by exploring your past and by expressing difficult feelings. Counselling aims to help you deal with and overcome issues that are causing emotional pain or making you feel uncomfortable, enabling you to live your life more fully.
My first session
I work to make our first session as comfortable as possible. (My sessions last for 50 minutes.) It's a time to get to know each other and for me to listen to you. I know how a first session feels (I remember my first session well) and want to reassure you that I am there for you.
