About me and my therapy practice

I am a qualified counsellor and an accredited and registered member of the BACP. My training has been centred on the person centred approach. My experience and professional development has led me to adopt a pluralistic take on my practice that introduces elements from therapeutic theories such as Existential Psychotherapies and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.

In my practice I work with people that experience symptoms of distress, low mood and anxiety in a structured, time limited or open ended time frame. My aim is to always take into account my client's needs, wishes, pace and desired focus in order to maintain a meaningful and trusting relationship. In our work my clients will have the opportunity to be in a non-judgemental space with me where they will be able to explore their feelings, situations and experiences in confidence in order to reach a positive resolution.

I have delivered counselling to clients in the NHS and in the community and higher education sector and, hence, I have worked with people from a vast range of backgrounds bringing a variety of issues. I welcome working with clients from any background including migrants settling into the UK from Europe or overseas.

About me and my therapy practice

I provide supervision to counsellors, psychotherapists and professional in helping/support roles. My training was based on the Seven-Eyed Model of Supervision of Hawkins and Shohet and I am familiar with the Cyclical Model of Supervision through my continuous professional development. I have experience of providing supervision to groups of helping professionals and third sector organisation managers and senior practitioners. Supervision is a professional space that allows for my supervisees to explore their experience of practising. It offers the opportunity to be supported through difficulties in their therapeutic practice and professional role whilst ensuring the safety of the people they support. Supervision also has an educative function as it facilitates the development of the supervisee as a practising therapist and professional. My professional training as a counsellor was based on the person-centred approach while introducing approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Gestalt Therapy leading me to adopt a pluralistic approach in my later practice. I have also managed mental health services in the community sector and in partnership with the NHS and hence have insight into the reality and environment of the work for professionals in this field.
