About me and my therapy practice
Talking helps…. Where should we begin? I’m a therapeutic counsellor and cognitive behavioural therapist (CBT). I love what I do and feel privileged working with vulnerable clients and see the benefits of counselling.I believe all we need to thrive is, to be seen, to be heard, to be loved. You may feel stuck or unhappy in some way and yet feel powerless to change. You feel it’s impossible to move forward, yet the idea of staying stuck is equally traumatic. My work is to journey with you, helping you connect with who you really are.
I offer an integrative approach using the two models above with warmth, empathy and respect where clients can explore personal & emotional issues in a safe, quiet and relaxing environment. I offer a confidential and non judgemental counselling working within the BACP Ethical Framework. I have a particular interest in complex bereavement and loss and have worked for two years in this field. I offer counselling to clients with severe anxieties and depression, panic attacks and chronic stress. Other areas include bullying, chronic illness, relationships, trauma, low self esteem and shame.
I understand that making the first appointment can be daunting. A free initial telephone conversation usually takes about 20 minutes where we can explore what you would like to achieve in therapy. I am happy to answer any questions you may have. After this, we’ll usually agree to meet for an hour session where we can cover what counselling involves and what you might expect from it and you can use the time to explore what brought you to counselling. After that, for ongoing work, we will continue in blocks of 6 sessions, which will be periodically reviewed. We'll meet same time, same day each week unless we negotiate otherwise. I offer a unique, personalised, collaborative approach. While I’ll draw your attention to potential ways forward in our work together, the choice is always yours. Where should we begin?
