Availability

I typically don't work on the weekend  and  at Christmas, New year or public holidays.  Other times will be advised typically two weeks before any temporary lack of availability unless there is an emergency or weather related incident.

About me and my therapy practice

Sometimes fear of being judged can hold us back from seeking help and advice, in resisting we fail to be true to ourselves and embrace new possibilities. Counselling is a positive and practical step you can take to initiate change in your life, it offers a confidential space where you will be seen and heard in a caring non-judgemental way.

I am a qualified Psychotherapeutic Counsellor professionally trained at the Metanoia Institute in London a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (MBACP) and a member of the BACP Coaching Division.

Practice description

I practice a Relational and Psychodynamic form of Transactional Analysis which is integrative and draws upon Humanistic, Psychoanalytic and Cognitive Behavioural approaches, this permits me to tailor therapy to your individual requirements. Transactional Analysis (TA) can be applied to Psychotherapy, Counselling & Therapeutic Coaching in order to effect a desired change. The key TA belief being that we are all capable of change.

I serve Swindon, Marlborough, the surrounding areas face to face  and on-line as circumstances require.

My first session

Your first consultation is as much for you to find out about me the therapist as it is about me to learn about you, so don't feel shy in asking any questions which may not have already been answered. I will also inform you of my terms of business, you should feel no obligation to continue if at this point you’re not comfortable with the arrangements or I fail to answer your questions adequately.

If we both decide we can work together I will ask you to provide some basic contact and medical information, which I should know about in case of emergency, together with an emergency contact if you have one.

Your future therapy will be based upon therapeutic goals and objectives, which we both agree, which will  have been already discussed during the session but they may require further sessions to clarify and review.

Therapy will usually be weekly and regular as this is necessary for the therapeutic process to succeed. You should expect that there may be some enquiries about your past as well as your present circumstances, however, you should also expect that you will do most of the talking as therapy is essentially all about you.

Lastly, it's normal to periodically review how your therapy is going and possibly to adapt or make changes to the overall therapeutic goal if this is necessary, it's also a chance to check that both of us are working together as expected.
