About me and my therapy practice
I have experience of working with a range of age groups from 5 to 19, engaging with a variety of issues. These include behavioural and social problems, attachment disorders, bereavement, self harm, learning difficulties and issues surrounding adoption, to name but a few.
I run a private practice, offering weekly psychodynamic therapy sessions for children and teenagers experiencing depression, anxiety and other mental health issues.
Since training at Birkbeck College London, I have been providing therapy for pupils in London primary and secondary schools, as well as specialist schools for teenagers with social and emotional mental health needs.
My approach is psychodynamic. This means allowing the client to bring whatever content they wish to share, whilst I try to respond to the underlying anxieties and conflicts being expressed. I use psychodynamic theory to inform the work, enabling me to make connections with their past and shed light on the current emotional difficulties they face.
Therapy can provide a safe and confidential space within which a young person may explore their inner world either through play, artwork or just talking. Consistent, weekly sessions can create a sense of continuity; of being held; of having parameters within which to build trust and communicate.
