There are times when stress, anxiety or constant overthinking can leave you feeling overwhelmed, emotionally unsettled and deeply alone. You may feel stuck in your head, disconnected from the world around you, or as though you are struggling against yourself. Perhaps you simply want to feel calmer, regain a sense of control and begin to feel like yourself again.
If this is where you are, you do not have to work through it alone. I offer a warm, compassionate and non-judgemental space where you can talk openly, feel heard and begin to make sense of what is happening for you. Together, we can explore the pressures you are carrying, understand the patterns that may be keeping you stuck, and find a way forward that feels manageable and right for you.
Life rarely follows the route we carefully planned. There are ups and downs, unexpected changes and times when our usual ways of coping no longer seem enough. Reaching out for support at such a moment is not a sign of weakness; it can be an important first step towards greater self-understanding, emotional balance and lasting change.
For more than 25 years, the heart of my work has been putting people and communities first. I feel genuinely honoured to support people through difficult periods in their lives, especially in a world that can often feel fast-moving, uncertain and unstable.
I also understand that your time matters. I therefore offer flexible counselling in person, online through Zoom, or by telephone, so you can choose what feels most comfortable and practical for you.
I work from 9am to 6pm, Monday to Friday, and offer Saturday appointments from 10am to 1pm on every second Saturday of the month.
You matter. Your mental health matters. You deserve the time and space to feel heard, supported and helped towards feeling more like yourself again.
About me and my therapy practice
People matter—and you matter. Your experiences, emotions and challenges deserve to be heard, understood and treated with care.
Therapy is about more than techniques. Meaningful change begins with a relationship in which you feel emotionally held, understood and able to speak without fear of judgement. My clients tell me that my ability to connect, empathise and stay alongside them through difficult experiences is one of the qualities they most value in our work together.
I specialise in helping people experiencing anxiety, panic attacks, phobias, stress, rumination, obsessive thoughts and OCD. These difficulties can narrow your life, leaving you exhausted, frightened or trapped in cycles that feel impossible to escape. Together, we can make sense of what is happening, develop practical ways of reducing distress and help you regain confidence, choice and control.
Modern life can place us under relentless pressure—to succeed, appear happy, remain productive and feel valued. Social media and constant comparison can leave us feeling we are falling behind. Anxiety and stress can build quietly until they affect our relationships, work, sleep and sense of self. Therapy offers a place to pause, understand these patterns and change them before they become a way of life.
I also work with identity and belonging, trauma and intergenerational trauma, addictions, boarding-school experiences, and the impact that religion or faith may have on emotional wellbeing.
My approach is integrative and tailored to you. I draw upon different therapeutic techniques to work with both mind and body and, where it feels meaningful to you, we can include spirituality as part of your therapeutic journey. The aim is not simply short-term relief, but deeper understanding, lasting change and a renewed sense of empowerment and meaning.
You do not need to arrive with everything neatly explained. We can begin with what you are feeling now and work forward together.
Practice description
With broad life experience and a background in diverse communities, I offer a warm, inclusive space where you can feel emotionally held, understood and respected. I adapt therapy to your history, culture, identity, beliefs and pace.
I specialise in anxiety, panic attacks, phobias, stress, OCD and trauma, as well as identity, belonging and sense-of-self difficulties. How we see ourselves matters. Therapy can reveal why certain fears and patterns have become so powerful.
My approach is person-centred and integrative. I may use CBT to identify and change unhelpful patterns of thinking and behaviour; ACT and mindfulness to help you step back from distressing thoughts; ERP to work gradually with OCD and phobias; and compassion-focused techniques for shame, self-criticism and low self-worth. I also use grounding, breathing, visualisation, relaxation and body-awareness to calm the nervous system and support emotional regulation. Where appropriate and agreed, hypnotherapy may also support our work.
Together, we can explore anxiety’s internal “risk-scanning” system: what triggers it, where it may have developed and how family relationships or past experiences may still influence it. Understanding this process can reduce shame and help you recognise thoughts, feelings and bodily sensations as understandable responses—not evidence that something is wrong with you.
Anxiety is part of the body’s protection system, but this internal alarm can become over-sensitive and react as though everyday situations are dangerous. We can gently retrain it, helping you respond with calm, confidence and choice.
Whether anxiety appears as panic, muscular tension, rumination, catastrophic thinking, health fears, shame, or fear of flying, enclosed spaces or going outside, our work will combine understanding with practical tools you can use beyond therapy. The aim is not simply to manage symptoms, but to help you create lasting change and a more secure relationship with yourself.
My first session
In the initial session, I may ask you to complete an assessment to understand more about the issue/issues that you are coming to therapy with.
