About me and my therapy practice
Feeling anxious, depressed, afraid, angry or just totally overwhelmed with what is going on in your life? For many of us problems can build up and affect how we feel about ourselves as well as impacting on our relationships and work performance. Sleeping may be a struggle and we can feel unmotivated and irritable. Even physical symptoms such as headaches, nausea or feeling tired all the time can be a direct result of emotional issues.
My work is both compassionate and non-judgemental allowing you to feel safe and supported to explore your struggles. This in turn will facilitate change for you, helping you grow and move forward to a place in which you are happier and have hope.
I will bring tools from the Person Centred Approach, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), CfD (Counselling for Depression), Transactional Analysis as well as other therapeutic techniques when I believe these to be of benefit to you in your journey.
My work is eclectic and I will always draw on my experiences and resources to do what I can that is best for you. I will create a therapeutic relationship in which I will not give advice but allow you as an individual or couple to find the capacity for your change, growth and personal development.
You will have a greater understanding of yourself, your relationships and what you are experiencing. The relationship we establish will allow you to trust your inner resources and be able to face future life decisions and choices on your own.
My first session
Initial contact can be by email or by telephone. I offer a free 10 minute telephone conversation to explain how I work and to provide you with the opportunity to ask any questions you may have.
If you are still interested in counselling we will arrange an initial meeting. This is an assessment where I aim to find out more about what brought you to counselling, whether or not you feel comfortable with me as your counsellor and for me to decide that I can provide you with the support you need.
