About me and my therapy practice

If you’re reading this, there’s something on your mind now about relationships, anxiety, depression, bereavement, or problems at work. I work with men, who have suffered in silence because ‘that’s what men do’. I work with women, who want to talk in a space where they can be their true selves. You may have felt more lonely because of COVID19. This might be the right time to work with me, a counsellor who will take your problems seriously and won’t judge you. I’m a registered BACP member and I was an Educational Psychologist for over 20 years.

Research shows that good counselling depends on the quality of the therapeutic relationship. That’s why I offer Person-Centred counselling, based on evidence that empathy and care make a good relationship and help you to grow. I work to create a confidential, safe place to experience compassion for who you are and help you find a new outlook on life.

My first session

I offer a free 30 minute phone consultation. This is a chance for you to see if you'd like to work with me. I'll introduce myself and tell you how I work. I'll ask you what you hope to get from counselling.

If it feels right to you, we'll arrange a first appointment, at which I'll explain about confidentiality and privacy. My way of working is informal and calm. I'll take time getting to know you and why you are looking for support now, at this moment in your life. It's important to give you time to build up your trust in me, so I will allow you the space you need. If you're not sure how to start, I'll help you.
