About me and my therapy practice

For me, counselling is a mixture of safety and interruption.

When we feel safe safe, we can explore the depths of ourselves freely with someone else. This happens when we feel understood, accepted and prized just as we are and can be enough for us to find our own inner strength, wisdom and solutions.

However, sometimes we need an interruption. This opens up new ways of coping, relating and living as we encounter another person's honest perspectives, ideas and feelings.

Practice description

Outside Therapy

Availability: Wednesdays 10am - 2.30pm.

I offer outside therapy at RHS Wisley. This offers us a natural, calming and ever-changing environment in which to work together, as well as many varied paths, benches and covered areas.

Online Therapy

Availability: Wednesdays 5pm - 8pm.

I offer online therapy via Google Meet.

What should I expect from the sessions?

  • You get a regular, confidential space in which to talk about your life, thoughts and feelings. This is yours. It's true that the more you feel able to engage in this, the more you will get out of counselling. Equally, it will always be up to you what you'd like to share each week.
  • I won’t judge, dismiss or try to fix things for you. Instead, I will listen attentively, trying to understand what it is like to live your life and offer this understanding back to you. I will help you to explore your life, thoughts and feelings, so that they begin to make more sense to you. And I will challenge you when I suspect you’ve learned ways to sabotage yourself.
  • This back-and-forth process will open up new ways to survive or thrive which we can then explore putting into practice in your everyday life.

How many sessions will I have?

I can offer short-term and long-term therapy. This, in the end, is your choice and we can discuss what would be best for you together. You may also just want to work in single sessions, booking these as you need them.

About me and my therapy practice

Counselling is about change; you want something to be different.

I believe that change happens when we feel safe. And that we feel safe when we experience being met, understood and valued as we are. Then we don't need to distort or deny our experiences, but can be curious about what's really going and confront what we fear. And we can discover our own strengths, values and wisdom.

Often, for change to happen, we also need an interruption to open up possibilities. Maybe its in our thought patterns, the ways we've learned to survive or the ways we connect with others. Maybe its in the systems we live in.

We are interrupted when we encounter another person's honest perspectives, ideas and feelings. We interrupt our lives when we make small decisions to do something different.

I offer a safe space in which we, together, can find the interruptions that make the difference for you.
