About me and my therapy practice
My name is Kat. I am an integrative counsellor/ Counselling Psychologist in my final year of study.
My doctoral-level training requires me to be proficient in at least two therapeutic modalities. I have received training in psychodynamics, CBT, third-wave CBT, and systemic modalities. The primacy of relatedness and quality of relationship remains at the centre of my therapeutic practice. The therapy result is our joint effort, and you are an expert in your life. I offer non-judgmental, emphatic help. A safe, confidential space where you can explore existing difficulties and their meaning in the context of your life. I believe that the felt experience of tension and suffering which is so characteristic of the difficulty can be as much the source point of novelty, possibility, and creativity. Therefore, I like to put the emphasis in my practice towards enabling your personal growth, improving self-acceptance, and fostering hope. However, we will work together to decide on the main focus and direction of therapy. Whether we should focus more on the past or present will depend on the nature of the problem. My therapeutic approach will be tailored to your needs. I offer both long-term and short-term counselling in English and Polish language.
In my training, it is essential to remain both a practitioner and scientist and engage in ongoing personal and professional development. My theoretical orientation together with participation in research and clinical practice gives me a basis to understand each person more holistically and adjust my work to the induvial needs and requirements. It also allows for taking a broader perspective on the various therapeutic modalities and for working mindfully in line with evidence-based standards. At work, I adhere to the HCPC, and BPS codes of ethics and professional guidance.
I have several years of experience working in mental health settings, in the NHS, and in the private sector in Poland and the UK.
Following the professional and ethical guidance should I feel that the difficulties that you struggle with may exceed my competencies, I will aim to support you with finding suitable help. If we decide to work together, I will offer you a regular therapy slot and will hand you a therapeutic contract.
My first session
The initial one to two sessions are for us to get to know each other and see if I am the right therapist for you. There is no obligation for you to commence therapy. However, if you feel you would like to continue with our sessions, I will offer you a regular time slot. Each session lasts 50 minutes and is held weekly.
I can offer a free 10- 15 minutes phone call conversation when you can tell me briefly about your needs and the nature of your difficulty. You will have a chance to ask me questions about my practice and assess if what I can offer could be suitable for you.
