About me and my therapy practice

I am an experienced, integratively trained counsellor working with adults and young people over 16 in Farnham, online and by telephone. I also offer in-person couples bereavement counselling sessions from my practice in Farnham. I have a BSc (Hons) in Therapeutic Counselling and as a registered member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy), I abide by their Ethical Framework and professional standards.

At times life can be really difficult - you might be looking to make some changes, are struggling to cope or would perhaps like to understand yourself a little better. If so, talking to a counsellor can give you a space to safely explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences  without judgement or being given advice. I offer a warm, collaborative and relational approach in a comfortable and relaxed environment, to support whatever you feel you are struggling with.

I regularly support clients with anxiety, depression, loneliness, loss of identity and relationship problems. I also have a particular interest in supporting grief and loss in its many forms including loss by suicide, perinatal loss and anticipatory loss. I am also interested in working with bereaved couples who would like to be supported together, rather than individually. I have experience of providing short-term workplace counselling for a variety of local organisations, supporting any issue an employee needs to talk about.

My therapy room is located on the first floor of a lovely barn, and is close to Farnham train station and a short walk from several town centre car parks. Free on-road parking can be found on several roads very close by. Please note unfortunately there is no lift available in the building.

Daytime and early evening in-person counselling appointments are available in Farnham, and I also see clients on a Saturday morning.

Practice description

I offer both short and long term work to best meet your individual needs. Short term therapy can be helpful for a major life event, coping strategies and working with specific goals, whereas long term therapy tends to support a broader range of issues.

My style of working is humanistic, relational and client-led; aiming to create a space where we can build a collaborative, connected therapeutic relationship that feels safe and supportive. I find it can often be helpful to explore your experience of relationships both past and present, to better understand thoughts and feelings in the here and now, and to think about coping behaviours that can help with day to day living.

My first session

For individuals I offer a free, 15/20 minute initial meeting to talk about what you need to bring to counselling, your expectations and how I might be able to help. It is an opportunity to ask any questions you have and for us to decide if we would be a good fit working together. We can arrange this in-person, online or by phone.

For couples interested in bereavement counselling, I offer a free 30 minute initial online or in-person meeting, to talk about what brings you to counselling, your expectations and hopes and how I might be able to help you. Some forms will be emailed for completion by you both before the initial meeting takes place.
