About me and my therapy practice

I'm Jo and I provide in person and online/telephone counselling - both short or long term tailored to my clients needs.

Are you feeling anxious, have periods of low mood, feel overwhelmed or are maybe finding it difficult to cope? Perhaps you are struggling with a specific loss, life event or relationship or are taking a positive step to improve your mental health? I am a fully qualified, experienced counsellor offering in person counselling in Dorking and online or telephone counselling across the UK.

I offer a calm, safe and confidential space to explore any life challenges or trauma from your past, in your current life or anxieties/concerns around the future. Together, we can work towards positive change and growth which may be through acceptance and understanding or by making changes to the way you view yourself or the world around you.

***How I work with my clients***

Every client is unique, presenting with different struggles and challenges, so I tailor my approach to each clients needs. I work integratively incorporating a number of recognised and established therapies. I work predominantly in a person centred way but also introducing problem solving and coping strategies, if needed, which are more goal focused and can help move forward with positivity. Some clients also prefer to work in a more creative way so we can discuss what you feel comfortable with and take it from there at your pace.

- People feeling anxious, worried or scared about different aspects of their life

- People with low mood, depression, lack of motivation and generally feel stuck

- People who are struggling with loss; grief and bereavement, loss of significant relationships or a job or those living with a chronic illness

- People with low self esteem, feeling lonely or overwhelmed by life

- People who are having issues with relationships; partners, divorce, friendship issues, family and parenting

- People who have issues at work; feeling burnt out, stressed or finding it difficult to communicate in a work setting

- People who have experienced one or many traumatic life events in their past and they feel they need to process this to be able to move forward positively.

Finding the right counsellor can be daunting and it is important you feel comfortable and relaxed with the counsellor you choose. I offer a free 20 minute in person, online or telephone consultation for us to meet, for you to explain your situation and for me to tell you a little more about how I work. Feel free to ask me any questions you may have about therapy. After the consultation, you can decide if would like to continue and pursue short or longer term counselling.
