About me and my therapy practice

Have life’s experiences left you feeling anxious, stressed, struggling or low? As a trauma & somatic-informed Integrative Therapist I offer a safe, supportive space to explore. Perhaps a free consultation to discuss how I can help would be useful?

Being an integrative practitioner I take an individual, intuitive and often creative approach to therapy. Your sessions will be informed by a range of therapeutic approaches, including traditional (top-down) talking therapy, mindfulness-based therapies, somatic (bottom-up) therapy, breathwork, CBT, clinical hypnotherapy, bilateral stimulation and tapping therapies. I adapt my methods according to what you are experiencing, what you need and what we find best achieves the change you seek. First and foremost however, I offer a safe, supportive, respectful and confidential space for you to talk and be really heard: Time dedicated to unravelling what is happening for you, and helping you through the difficulties you face.

I can especially help with:

  • anxiety & worry
  • stress & work related issues
  • low mood
  • emotional trauma & dysregulation
  • negative thinking & habits
  • phobias & fear
  • relationships & family problems
  • confidence & self-esteem
  • general wellbeing & personal development

I offer both short and long-term therapy. You may only need a few sessions, perhaps for a specific problem or anxiety coping strategies, or you may benefit from longer, deeper exploration and resourcing. Between us we’ll find what’s right for you, your circumstances and the outcome you desire.

I am a firm believer that the therapeutic relationship is key to a successful outcome, so it's important you choose a therapist you are comfortable with.  As such, I offer a FREE 30 minute telephone or Zoom consultation so that you can ask questions and get a real sense of how we can work together and how I can help.  If you are interested, please email or give me a call. If I am unavailable I will get back to you as soon as possible.

Practice description

I work with adults of all ages - from older teenagers/students (age 18+) just getting used to the adult world, to those in or approaching retirement.

I work both online to wherever you are in the UK, and from my private, comfortable and peaceful client room on the outskirts of Bury St Edmunds, situated on the A134 towards Sudbury and only a few miles from the A14.

Sessions are by prior appointment only and, unless specified, are  for the full 60 minutes hour. I offer a range of times Tuesday – Friday, subject to availability.

Fuller details about me, how I work and the therapies I offer can be found on my website:

My first session

I appreciate that starting therapy can feel daunting, which is why I offer a free no-obligation initial consultation as a chance for us to get to know each other.  If you are happy to continue we will agree a regular session, usually weekly at first, but sometimes bi-weekly.

I will start our first full session by taking contact details and a medical history. I will then explain important ethical considerations, such as confidentiality and privacy, and will ask you to complete a short clinical assessment which helps me identify your therapeutic needs, and supports ongoing reviews.

In a safe, caring, supportive and non-judgemental environment, we will then begin to gently explore what is happening for you and how best to work together to start the process of change.  I will  help you to feel relaxed and at ease, and encourage you to become curious and perhaps kinder to yourself.  If you are particularly distressed or nervous I'll work with you to calm this, whether demonstrating an emotional regulation strategy or sitting alongside you until the feelings pass.

You may be surprised to find yourself talking more than you expected and noticing that already something starts to change for you, but if it takes longer to open up that’s fine.  Together, we’ll find a pace and working style that feels right for you, because this is your therapy, and you are at the heart of what I do.
