About me and my therapy practice

It is often difficult to decide to seek help, and i have great respect for anyone deciding to consult someone for therapy.

I originally trained at Goldsmiths College, University  of London, on their postgraduate counselling training.

I have been practising as a counsellor since 1999 with an emphasis on developing a therapeutic relationship.

I have worked in the NHS for around 20 years, as a mental health crisis team manager, as a liaison psychiatry clinical specialist, and as a psychological therapist in GP surgeries and clinics.

There are lots of courses these days and everyone has several degrees but the emphasis ought to be on how we are in relationships. And how we enhance our relationships to make our lives more nourishing.

I have taken further study with the Independent Group of Analytical Psychologists in Jungian approaches to therapy; also with the Institute of Psychiatry in enhanced skills; and with the University of Sussex for CBT training.

Practice description

I offer counselling, mainly psycho-dynamic, at home in Canterbury, seeing men and women, some couples, and i offer some home therapy visits.

Normally the sessions are weekly over 50 mins, exploring difficulties using the therapeutic relationship. Often there may be some unconscious motivation which can become apparent in the sessions, or in your dreams.
