About me and my therapy practice

Hi I offer counselling and therapy in Canterbury. I see young people, students, individuals and couples.

I have a friendly therapeutic approach to any difficulty you bring. This is underpinned by extensive NHS mental health experience and specialist assessment skills .

I originally trained at Goldsmiths College, University of London, on their postgraduate counselling training, and with Deptford Psychotherapy Centre.

I have practiced in the NHS for around 20 years, as a mental health crisis team manager, as a liaison psychiatry clinical specialist, and as a psychological therapist in GP surgeries, with IAPT, and clinics.

I have also had postgraduate NHS training in cognitive behavioural therapy; and recently qualified as an EMDR therapist (a treatment for trauma). I have an MSc from the University of Kent.

Practice description

I offer counselling, mainly psychodynamic, at home in Canterbury, seeing men and women, some couples, and I can do home therapy visits for people physically unable to get out.

Normally the sessions are weekly over 50 mins, the sessions can be online on Zoom or Skype; or at home if you live in East Kent.

My first session

There would be an initial assessment in Canterbury, or online, or at your home, and we can explore your concerns.

I have a great deal of NHS experience offering psychiatric assessments and can normally help you identify any specific concern that may bother you but you can't quite put your finger on, for example on codependency.

This first session can be online, using Zoom or Skype.

About me and my therapy practice

Hi i have some experience as a psychodynamic supervisor and offer counselling for student counsellors.

My usp is my mental health background, especially biopsychosocial assessments and mental state exams; and a varied understanding of mental health conditions and behavioural and personality difficulties.

My view is not to ask ‘what’s wrong?’ But to ask ‘what happened?’

I have an MSc in mental health.

Practice description

I was in a psychoanalytic supervision group for several years. Often the clinical picture is ‘in the room’ and unconscious dynamics unfold in the session. I have a background as a candidate with a Jungian group in London and have spent 8 years in Jungian analysis.

I can be flexible regarding appointments.
