About me and my therapy practice
I am a psychotherapist specializing in using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and solution focused approaches to help my clients in overcoming both present and past difficulties. My aim is to support and empower you throughout the therapeutic process and beyond.
I recognise the challenges of committing to therapy alongside a busy life with all of its stresses. As such, I aim to work flexibly with each client to meet their needs and use research-based approaches to work efficiently and effectively in the time we have.
You can expect a calm, empathic approach to therapy, combining a supportive caring environment with practical guidance and information. Whether that take the form of suggesting apps and wider reading, or practicing techniques you can use to self-soothe and manage difficulties between sessions.
By using a range of therapeutic approaches, I can help in processing past traumas, overcoming present challenges and moving towards a future with more confidence and hope.
I have worked with adults from all backgrounds in a range of settings, both short and long term. I can help in working towards your goals whether person, professional or spiritual, or even if you are unsure where your goals lie.
I am based in a private office in Rawtenstall, at the end of the M66 with easy access and free parking, and also offer both telephone and video counselling, both of which I have extensive training and experience in providing.
My first session
An initial meeting will allow us both to decide if we can work effectively together, and to establish your goals from therapy and beyond. It also enables me to make an informed choice about which approach would be best to meet your needs. I will explain the counselling contract I work to, which helps us both by providing a framework for the sessions we will undertake. Clients often describe that feeling heard and understood in this first meeting is therapeutic in itself and provides a sense of hope and direction for the future.
