About me and my therapy practice

I have been working in the charity sector and in private practice since 2015 and appreciate how important it is to choose a counsellor that feels like someone you can work with, because counselling is a personal journey that allows you to explore what it means to be you.

I have many years of experience, listening to people as they share what is causing life to be difficult and painful. This trusted, sharing relationship enables personal growth and change.

I am a qualified, Integrative therapist and use skills and tools from the person centred, the psychodynamic and cognitive, behavioural therapy approaches.

I am also a qualified parenting practitioner and can offer consultations and support for parents or the whole family.

I have considerable experience of working with people on the Autistic spectrum or supporting those who live with people on the spectrum.

Practice description

I offer a safe and confidential space to explore and unravel issues that are troubling you and causing concern in your life.

By offering compassion and empathy in a non-judgemental space, you will be able to explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviours with honesty and curiosity and to acknowledge personal strengths and resilience, that will bring about effective change in your life, or find ways of coping with your problems.

In the sessions you will be better able to recognise your needs, to discover resources within yourself and to make better sense of the world around you.

My first session

I offer a twenty-minute free of charge telephone conversation to talk with me and briefly explore how I could help you.

During the first full session with me I ask that we complete a brief assessment and explain about the counselling process. We will discuss the ethical principles that underpin the work including confidentiality and the supervision that I receive as well as the contract that we will both discuss and sign.

We will explore the issues that have brought you to counselling and how I can best help you. I generally suggest that you commit to 4 or 6 sessions ,after which we will have a review of how helpful you are finding the process and how you wish to proceed.

However you are free at any point to end the contract, although I do ask that we have an end session if possible.
