About me and my therapy practiceI work with young people (over 14) and adults in a warm, safe, nurturing and non-judgmental space.
My aim is that during our time together we can gain insights into and find ways to manage challenging emotions and problems and to help you fulfil your potential in life.
Because life can be overwhelming and stressful at times, we may unwittingly develop unhelpful coping strategies and defence mechanisms, perhaps losing our true selves along the way.
By exploring and finding ways to overcome these unhealthy strategies and defences, you and I can work together to re-discover your true voice and authentic self, which may have been hidden away behind a mask for many years.
My training was Integrative, which means, depending on what feels appropriate, I use different ways of working, including person-centered therapy, art therapy, sand-tray therapy and cognitive behavioural therapy, amongst others.
I work long or short term, dependent on your needs and have helped people to cope with a wide range of issues including depression, abuse, low self esteem, anger management, bereavement, domestic violence, family separation, anxiety, sleep problems and self-harm.
In the initial session I will take down some information such as what is currently troubling you, contact details, some personal history, your expectations and hopes for coming and I will explain confidentiality. I'll also give you the opportunity to ask me any questions.
