About me and my therapy practice

I use an integrative approach to therapy, bringing together the skills from CBT, Gestalt and Psychodynamic therapies to tailor an approach which is best to achieve the your aims. All of the approaches together encourage you to understand yourself and how you relate to those around you and how sometimes this gets warped so that its not helpful in your life, once you have that information change and/or self-compassion can take place.

Initially, I would give you half an hour in person or by zoom/ telephone to discuss what you are hoping for from therapy and to introduce myself  and answer any questions you may have.  If you are happy to proceed we would begin sessions and reviewing the progress regularly.

My first aim is to get to know you and your world view so that we can work together in getting the change or understanding you hope for.

I do both long term work and short term therapies, deciding which is most suitable will be agreed between us.

In my work I hold your wishes and needs with the highest of respect, understanding that coming to therapy is brave and often difficult. I have personal experience of this and so understand, but also know how it can transform your life, relationships and sense of self.

Practice description

I work from Alvechurch, Bromsgrove, Kings Heath and Kings Norton in South Birmingham/North Worcestershire. I rent rooms at a number of centres, so I am flexible subject to notice, and availability of premises. I also do a walk and talk session ( if appropriate ) for those who find being outside therapeutic. For those with access difficulties  I am able to offer home visits by arrangement and at some centres disabled access.

My first session

After the free first half an hour chat we would arrange a first session, I would ask you to complete a questionaire before you come which we will begin the session with. It serves as an ice breaker and helps me to understand your issues and state of mind. It also helps us make a plan for the number of sessions and the work to be done.
