About me and my therapy practice

We all struggle at times in our lives and there is no shame in reaching out for help. It can be an extremely hard step to take and also a truly wonderful one.

People come to therapy for a range of reasons; you may be struggling with a lack of meaning in your life causing feelings of negativity, a traumatic loss like bereavement or relationship break up. Perhaps you are experiencing anxiety, depression or difficulty in letting go of painful childhood memories. Whatever the reason I aspire to treat everyone as an individual and their experiences as unique.

Fundamental to my approach as a therapist is to offer a relationship of equality. Instead of advising you or telling you what to do I create a non-judgmental and trustworthy space to help you explore difficult thoughts, feelings and behaviours. I place emphasis on building a therapeutic relationship, believing it facilitates change to occur and offering myself as a companion accompanying you on your journey, at your own pace, to help you gain clarity and perspective.

As a warm-hearted, grounded person I bring authenticity to all my therapeutic work. I work as an Integrative Therapist, expanding my experience and training after my original degree. I use several modalities and each session is tailored to my clients' needs. As well as Person Centred I also draw on such things as Transactional Analysis and Mindfulness.

Practice description

I work with women and young people, offering individual sessions on an open-ended basis, short or long term.

I have been a qualified therapist for 10 years and am experienced in working with people from a range of backgrounds with an awareness of race, gender, sexuality and cultural differences.

As a registered BACP member I abide by their code of ethics and keep myself up to date with the latest research and education through training and self-learning.

I have a special interest in offering help and understanding to trauma and childhood adversity.  I seek to help people gain clarity and understanding to this all too often misunderstood struggle, so you are not just surviving through life but living it fully.
