About me and my therapy practice
Everyone deserves a good listening to...
I am a qualified Psychotherapist/Counsellor; and a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP), appearing on their Register of therapists and adhering to their Code of Ethics.
Key to working as a psychotherapist is the capacity to listen without judgement or expectation. I work in an integrative way, incorporating my training, intuition and personal experience of self-enquiry and development. Using varied approaches and creative tools when appropriate.
Creating a safe, calm space where each individual is supported in their journeys of understanding, growth and healing. Working collaboratively, and with empathy within each client relationship is fundamental. I have an innate sensitivity, the capacity to think clearly and be curious with clients as they seek to resolve issues.
My experience includes working with feelings of sadness, depression, anxiety, stress, loss, anger, abandonment issues, attachment issues, relationship concerns, loneliness, family issues, eating disorders, addictions, trauma and feeling lost or overwhelmed.
I have undertaken specialist training and continuous professional development to work with people suffering with eating disorders, including; Anorexia, Bulimia, ARFID, Binge Eating Disorder, OSFED, EDNOS, body image issues and disordered eating.
I have undertaken specialist training and continuous personal development to work with suffering with trauma and PTSD. I was trained by Babette Rothschild (The Body Remembers); and use her Somatic Trauma Therapy tools, where appropriate. I now work with Babette, assisting on training workshops for therapists around the world, to work safely with trauma.
Qualifications include: BA Hons, FdSd Counselling (Distinction), Aim Level 3 & 2 in Counselling
I use breath work and meditation when appropriate to support clients to self-soothe, when their nervous systems are dysregulated.
Practice description
I understand that life is full of experiences that may feel challenging or confusing. Maybe you are feeling overwhelmed, uncertain, stressed, or lonely. Needing a safe space to talk about how you feel makes sense and can often be critical in helping overwhelm lessen, clarity return and alongside that a sense of well being and peace. Therapy provides a space to think, share, reflect, and renew ourselves. It offers a unique opportunity to develop self-awareness, self-care tools, and greater understanding. This in turn offers greater choice when faced with challenges and difficult decisions or feelings.
Maybe you are struggling with family relationships or issues, or concerns in other relationships, at work, or with friends.
What you share will always be confidential, met with understanding, compassion and empathy. Sometimes we may find ourselves sharing a smile or laughing together. If therapy with me is something that you feel you would like to try, then please contact me to talk about how I may help.
My first session
The first session will be an initial assessment to help me understand what has brought you to seek support. I will ask questions as part of the conversation, exploring historical and current experiences.
Meeting together will give you an opportunity to see how you feel talking with me and I will have a better idea if I have the appropriate experience and approach for us to work together.
The meeting will also be an opportunity for you to ask any questions you have.
