About me and my therapy practice
I am an experienced counsellor working from private practice rooms in Guildford and Godalming. My clients seek support with a variety of issues including anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, bereavement, loss and challenging life events. I offer a safe, confidential space, with non-judgemental support and encouragement, where you can explore your feelings. Together we can work towards getting your life on track.
How will counselling help? Counselling will enable you to get in touch with and express your feelings, to make sense of your experiences, to gain awareness of your behaviour and how you relate to others, and to think about things in a different way. It offers the opportunity for you to feel happier, stronger and better able to cope.
My approach: My work is underpinned by my psychodynamic training. This approach takes into account a client’s past experiences, and works with an understanding that difficult feelings can be repressed by our conscious minds when they are too painful to process. Drawing on this foundation helps clients develop greater self-awareness, a key part of the process.
I approach each client relationship individually, and may also draw on mindfulness, breathing exercises and creative work. Encouragement to focus on self-care and self-compassion is key, and together we will work out what you need to feel happy, fulfilled and secure.
Getting in touch: Counselling really can make a difference. Do get in touch for more information or to book an initial consultation. In this initial session we would identify the issues you wish to work on, the outcome you are hoping for, and the time frame that suits you (ie short-term or a more open-ended, exploratory approach).
I work from comfortable private practice rooms at The Eaves (Counselling and Psychology Centres) in both Guildford and Godalming, Surrey. (For more information and directions, visit www.theeaves.org.uk)
I offer in-person sessions mainly but also work with clients online, using Zoom or Skype.
My first session
An initial session is an opportunity for us to meet and discuss the issues you wish to work on in therapy, the outcome you are hoping for, and the time frame that suits you (ie short-term or a more open-ended, exploratory approach). It's a time for you to ask questions, find out more about my way of working and to see if that feels the right approach for you. I will always suggest that you take some time after an initial session to think it over and then let me know whether you would like to go ahead or not. If I don't think I am the best option for you, and that another approach might be more beneficial, I will be happy to think through alternatives with you.
Sessions last for 50 minutes and can be done in-person or online.
