About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I am Tom and I am a person-centred counsellor (qualified 2018) in Brighton.
As you are reading my profile I presume there things in your life that you feel the need to talk about and explore. You may be trying to make sense of these thoughts and maybe together we can help you see things more clearly.
As a person-centred counsellor I believe in working together in a non-judgemental way where I listen to help develop an understanding of your world from your perspective. In doing so, I hope it creates a safe space where you can talk about your thoughts and feelings. Hopefully, this will allow you to gain a clearer understanding of the situation you are currently experiencing and perhaps identify strengths and resources to help you cope in a better way than currently.
As well as being a qualified person-centred counsellor I have also received training in Motivational Interviewing and Solution Focused Brief Therapy.
I have worked with people of all ages experiencing low self esteem, depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, self injury, loss, alcohol and drug dependency, relational issues.
So whatever you want to talk about, whether it be happiness/sadness, hope/fear, belonging/loneliness, peace/anger, acceptance/rejection, pride/shame or any other feelings that you feel represent what is going on for you then I hope we can work through them together through conversation and understanding.
Meeting someone new to talk about thoughts and feelings can be scary, but hopefully working together, we can get from that scary place to somewhere better for you.
Best wishes,
Tom
Practice description
I currently am offering counselling online via Zoom, FaceTime or telephone to people aged 18 and above.
If you need help with the technology then please let me know.
It is important that you are able to find space to be able to talk during our sessions with as little interruption as possible.
My first session
We begin with an assessment so you can talk about what is troubling you to help give me an understanding of what your life is like at the moment.
We can explore what you would like to get from counselling and if you have any questions for me about the process of counselling or any other aspects I will be happy to answer them for you.
In having the assessment it also helps us to decide if we can work together because it is important that we can create a space to talk that we are both comfortable with.
