About me and my therapy practice
Hello and welcome to Seasons Therapy
I’m Ruth, an experienced BACP accredited psychotherapist working with young people 13+, individuals and couples from all walks of life. I offer short or long term therapy tailored to your needs.
I specialise in helping clients manage anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, coping with long term illness, disability and trauma.
Are you going through a difficult season in life right now ? Perhaps you are experiencing problems in your relationships, anxiety or panic attacks, low mood, depression or life overwhelm. You might be struggling at work or have low self esteem, lack self confidence or be grieving the loss of a relationship or a loved one. Quite often these difficulties stem from past experience - you might have suffered a previous trauma such as bullying, abuse or parental separation. You might have a long-term physical health condition, and I am very aware of how these aspects interweave and impact on the person and our relationships.
My clients come to me with many different issues including anxiety, loneliness anxiety, depression, sexual intimacy and relationship problems. Most people I meet have been trying to deal with these issues and have become stuck, unable to find a way through and are looking for a different way of managing their emotions. I help my clients by providing a supportive space in which we discover new perspectives on their problems and develop effective strategies to overcome them. This has helped my clients gain a richer understanding of themselves and what they want from life, enabling them to create a more meaningful and fulfilling life.
I was struggling with extreme anxiety that was affecting my life and relationships. Working with Ruth has helped me look at the root cause of my worry and now I am less anxious and much happier. Alex
I place a lot of emphasis on building a good relationship between the client and therapist as this provides the solid and supportive foundation upon which change and personal growth can be achieved. I will work with you to create a trusting and safe environment where you can talk, think and feel freely while being really listened to and valued; a space just for you.
I encourage open-ended therapy for the most opportunity for change, growth. My approach is to explore the root causes of issues in the context of a supportive therapeutic relationship. I offer a welcoming, safe, confidential and non-judgemental space where you will be met with respect and acceptance. A place for you to explore the thought patterns, feelings and beliefs that you may be struggling with that are stopping you from moving forward. I work in an integrative way using a range of therapies and tailor every treatment to meet your needs and expectations.
Alongside my private practice I work as a Psychodynamic Counsellor at the Rock Clinic Brighton. I have also worked with 999 Paramedics and Frontline responders during the recent Covid pandemic to provide therapeutic support. Additionally I have recently worked as a Student Counsellor at Sussex University and a School Counsellor as part of YMCA Dialogue.
I have extensive experience of working in local primary and secondary schools with Social Services, the Police and other local agencies to provide mental health support for students in crisis to help them find a way whatever challenge they may be facing.
Taking the first step on a healing journey can be challenging but finding the right therapist that you can trust and feel comfortable with can make all the difference in helping you move forward and feel safe and supported in exploring the issues you want to work with. I would like to help you make the changes you need so that you can lead a healthy, happy and fulfilling life.

My first session
After an initial FREE phone consultation I will meet with you face to face for an initial therapy session (unless you wish to work online).
During our first meeting we will discuss what brings you for therapy at this time and how I might be able to help you. This first session is an important time for us to establish a working relationship and you to decide whether I am the right therapist for you. I place a lot of emphasis on building a safe therapeutic relationship so this first session is a great way to see how we can work together.
Following this first session then we can discuss how you wish to work with me. We can work together in an open ended manner or you can decide to have a fixed number of sessions depending on your needs. I am happy to work with you to decide what works best for you.
I offer therapy for Individuals, Couples and Young people and work online and face to face.
I look forward to hearing from you.
