About me and my therapy practice

Choosing to access therapy can be a huge step, and it really is one that I wish to help you take. Hello, my name is Marie, and I would like to offer you face-to-face counselling in a kind, caring, and non-judgemental environment, where you can expect a confidential and supportive therapeutic relationship. As a BACP Registered Member, I can offer you counselling on a range of difficulties, including anxiety, addiction, depression, stress, self-harm, relationships, health & wellbeing.

I work using one of the main counselling approaches called Person Centred which means that I provide you with the foundation to bring about your own self-healing. I therefore passionately believe that we all have the capacity to heal from our past traumas and as a result to flourish as a human being given the right conditions. I not only wish to help my clients to build better relationships with others, but to thrive as a result of the relationship with their-self.

Talking therapies is a way to help you achieve this and by working with you on a weekly basis we can slowly begin to overcome your distress and look at ways to make life meaningful again.

My experience to date has been working for Southend-on-Sea City Council in their Early Help team. As a result of this I provided counselling to families experiencing difficulties with a range of concerns and issues.

My training has included but not limited to, Stress Awareness, Nutrition & Mental Health, Self-Harm, Healing the Wounds of Trauma and Understanding Eating Disorders.

I have an enhanced DBS.

Practice description

My practice is based in Southend and parking is available close by. There is also train and bus stops within a short distance.

In this spacious and welcoming setting, I can offer you a 50-minute session that is all about you, and as you arrive for your appointment, I will be available at the door once you knock to meet you and begin your session.

My first session

Your first session provides you with the chance to talk through what has brought you to counselling. I will then explain the contract, and how I work, providing you with the chance to decide if you would wish to work with me.

We will then explore together what you would wish to gain from counselling as I provide you with a secure environment to be listened to, heard and understood.

Should you wish to speak to me first, I can offer you a free 20-minute telephone call to give you the chance to explain your situation and to ask me any questions you may have before your first session.
