About me and my therapy practiceI am an experienced BACP registered integrative psychotherapist meaning I tailor my therapy style according to my client's needs and what works best for them. I work with both short and long term clients, helping them explore their internal world so they are able to move into a place of inner calm and strength. A keen focus of my work is to use mindfulness to bring clients into the present. A lot of the issues we experience are due to triggers from the past, so through living and working in the present, these issues don't hold the same power anymore. I often work transpersonally with images and dreams, as I believe through using the creative imagination we can bypass the blocks and resistance in the mind, to work at a deeper, more transformative level.
I also offer EMDR therapy. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of psychotherapy that is able to access and process traumatic memories and adverse life experiences so that they no longer need to affect you on a day-to-day basis. It enables these memories and experiences to reside in the past, where they belong, as opposed to you having to constantly re-experience them in the present.
My approach is very person-centred as I believe the key to successful therapy is a positive relationship between the client and the therapist.

I understand that getting started can often be daunting and overwhelming so in this session we will get to know each other and you can explain what brings you to therapy and what you hope to get from it. From there we can decide together what is the best approach to take and how many sessions we feel might be required. Most commonly we would start with one session a week for 6 sessions before we review and evaluate progress, then reassess how to proceed. My belief is that we all get stuck at different times in our lives and through psychotherapy we can unravel the jumble in our minds to give us clarity, strength and peace.
