About me and my therapy practice
Hello - my name is Kate and I am a professional, qualified Counsellor and Psychotherapist base in East London, Essex and The Home Counties.
My sessions at the moment (March 2020) are currently over video conferencing and also telephone therapy which I feel is a vital aspect of the service I offer to clients, especially during these unprecedented and worrying times.
I have undertaken a number of voluntary, temporary, sessional and permanent roles in London and Essex working in treatment centres. I have also undergone extensive training which complements and enhances my therapeutic work. This includes addiction, co-dependency, couple and relationship issues, depression, anxiety and stress in the workplace.
My aim is to explore and walk with you through any troublesome times and look at what troubles you, help you to understand those thoughts and feelings and work with them. I feel that getting a greater understanding what they are is the first step.
I am fully insured, have ongoing clinical supervision and regularly attend courses and further training to enhance my knowledge and professionalism with Continued Professional Development (CPD).
Practice description
My experience has included working as a psychotherapist in a rehabilitation wing in a prison, Various GP surgeries and treatment centres for Drug and Alcohol addiction. I am also fully conversant with working through the 12-step recovery approach.Prior to working in mental health and addiction, I worked in the corporate sector where I developed strong mentoring, management, training and leadership skills. I have a good understanding of the stresses of working life, particularly the balance between the personal and the professional; the private and public.
With a strong background in mental health, education, business and the field of addiction, my knowledge and experience has allowed me to see problems from a broader angle in assisting people find their own unique way to deal with their difficulties. I understand the internal and external pressures people can put on themselves, which can lead to unhelpful or damaging coping strategies.
