About me and my therapy practice

Needing to unburden? Going through a time of crisis or major change? Or maybe sense a lack of direction in life? Perhaps you are experiencing feelings of grief, loss, or anxiety as we continue to live with the impact of COVID 19. It can be a huge relief to express how we are feeling and the issues with which we are struggling, knowing that we are not being judged but are welcomed and accepted as we are. I offer a safe, confidential space to help you explore your current situation. As an Integrative counsellor, I can draw upon the main counselling approaches where they might be relevant to you, helping you to understand yourself, your relationships, and your current situation better.

I am a registered member of the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy) and the A.C. C (Association of Christian Counsellors). I am also a member of the BACP Spirituality Division.

I have a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and also hold a National Counselling Society Certificate in Online and Telephone Counselling.

For the last three years I have worked as a counsellor for a local counselling service. Originally, I trained as a Special Needs teacher and have taught in several special schools and units, before a career change in 2015 when I started a four-year counselling course.

I have worked for the last seven years for the NHS as a chaplaincy volunteer and bank chaplain at my local hospital, and also as a counsellor on a COVID 19 Staff Support Line.

I am also a Licensed Lay Minister in the Church of England.

My working life and experience in a variety of settings has given me an understanding of, and empathy for, people from a wide range of backgrounds. As a plant thrives, given the right conditions, so I believe that people can become the ‘best version of themselves’ when the right conditions are met in therapy

Practice description

I offer weekly sessions face to face, online Zoom counselling or telephone, both short term and long term, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, with availability early evenings.

My first session

I offer a free initial thirty minute consultation on Zoom or telephone. This is an opportunity for you to share what has brought you to counselling, your goals for counselling and for us to get a sense of whether we are a ‘good fit’. If you decide you would like to proceed we will then book an initial six sessions, with a review.
