About me and my therapy practice
If you are suffering with anxiety, depression, grief, anger or feel tearful, it impacts your daily life.
Mental Health encompasses our emotional, psychological and social well-being. It has a huge impact on how you act, feel and react, as well as impacting the life choices you make.
Seeking advice to overcome your feelings is a big step and it can be helpful to have someone beside you on your journey. My goal as a Counsellor is to provide a safe, compassionate environment to help you navigate the challenges of life.
Working together I can help you develop a greater understanding of your thoughts and feelings and explore how you can move forward to begin to enjoy life again. Life can provide challenges, making us feel overwhelmed, struggling to cope. ByThere are times in our lives when we need some support and help, someone who will listen, feel safe and is non-judgemental. We don't always understand why we feel like we do, some times there's a more obvious trigger. If you are upset, struggling or facing difficulties it can help to talk, which isn't always easy. Understanding our feelings can help us towards a sense of calm and help gain more control over our lives. I work with a genuineness and sensitivity which may enable you to develop a deeper understanding of yourself, developing an increased sense of self-acceptance.

I am an experienced psychodynamically trained accredited counsellor.
Psychodynamic counselling helps gain an understanding of deep rooted feelings and struggles, bringing the unconscious mind into the conscious in order to resolve issues. When our mind struggles to process feelings, memories and experiences, defences are used to protect ourselves. By exploring and understanding these defences it can help us make changes and process unresolved problems.
As well as running my private practice I have experience within voluntary agencies, associate work in a psychotherapy practice, voluntary secondary school counsellor as well as working as an assistant school project manager.
I have 10 years experience working in the NHS, in Psychiatry, Rehabilitation and Neurology.
My first session
During your first session you will be given information covering practicalities such as session times, fees, confidentiality and a chance to ask any other questions you may have.
Your first session is an opportunity for you to decide how you feel about counselling, to explore what has bought you to counselling and how I may be able to work with you to explore new ways to think and feel about life. There is no obligation to commit at this stage.
